  2. hi dorientje yes i use a skin from not found (ok, not one from the legacy package).... and the nails were visible at the beginning... but when I hid them in the HUD to use meshnails, they could not be activated again afterwards... but surely this should have nothing to do with the finger and toenails?

  3. Hello I have found nothing on this topic, I open this thread...

does anyone else have the problem that with the legacy body (i use the classic and the perky) the hidden finger and especially toe nails can no longer be shown? my deformed foot nails have not been present for a while. i got the update, but the same problem with it. i don't always want to put on meshnails, does anyone else have this problem?

The likelihood of being hit by banlines does seem inversely proportionate to the attractiveness of the parcel, it's true. I wonder how many of the offenders are still active, and how many logged off years ago, never to return? Which is another reason why we'll never see covenant changes to mainland: so much unofficially abandoned land full of prim litter which the Lindens would then have to decide how to deal with.

agree... i would often have great desire to unpack a huge garbage chute and send it across the mainland

  5. i am also puzzled why these fearful people sometimes even own boats themselves, probably only as decoration. my opinion: away from waterways, away from roads, best inland without connection or even much better, on a standalone sim. furthermore, i would be more than okay if the same rules that exist on bellisseria would be extended to the mainland. that would mean to completely abolish the banneline function and require the use of correctly set orbs. btw: i always find it funny when you can zoom into a parcel despite bannlines ;) and even funnier i find bannlines around a bunch of ancient prim junk

In the Firestorm viewer you can "protect" inventory folders, and this will prevent you moving or deleting them and the folders they're in. Protected folders have the term "(protected)" after their name. The "protect"/"unprotect" option is about half way down the right-click menu.

I don't know if this feature is a thing in other viewers.

ok, i was able to solve the problem in my own way by creating a new folder where it should be. then i dragged one subfolder after the other into the new folder. this went without a hitch, so nothing should have been protected. the old main folder could also be deleted without any problems. strange sl today... thanks for reply kingsley!

yes, it is a subfolder that cannot be moved. how can i filter out what i may have protected by mistake? unfortunately i could not find anything at first glance. i use firestorm

It actually is possible to get from the Blake Sea to Bellisseria.

Unfortunately, a couple security orbs on the mainland will get you before you make it.

hi paul, i made it over satori several times by plane without any problems, unfortunately it is still not possible by boat. the safest way is to fly along the road to the south, the last stretch went without incident. if i get caught by a 0 second orb, i make a note of the region and see if i can avoid it the next time.

I fly those planes too, and a couple even larger. I don't have any problem taking off or landing on those runways. Flying in SL can best be described as "immersive" - it's certainly not that realistic, so even larger planes can land on very short runways with a bit of practise.

I'll just add and confirm what Nika said, full-size airports in Bellisseria aren't appropriate, because as mentioned, they aren't in theme, and the main purpose of Bellisseria is residential living areas for premium members. This was mentioned by one of the Moles (Abnor I think) previously when this topic was first brought up. There are plenty of large airports all over mainland as it is - and now that the continents are joined, you can fly to them all ;)

we have also taken off and landed on the mini runways, but not very realistically. it doesn't have to be a mega airport, but something bigger wouldn't be bad. furthermore, i would find a kind of bellisseria capital somehow exciting, perhaps also with a small shopping mall. no realistic region in the world consists only of allotment settlements... i hope at least that you can reach belli by boat soon, it is a pity that there are no water ledges yet for a connection to the blake sea. but i think that is probably in the planning stage

Well the Moles have added a third airstrip in Bellisseria only a few days ago - smack bang in the middle of the great river that runs through the Chalet theme. So that's 3 now in total, plus of course there are "proper" airports at both the northern and southern ends of Bellisseria, in neighbouring Satori/Jeogeot.

I'd say overall, pilots in SL are being pretty well looked after in Bellisseria, besides, this IS SL, you can land your big plane on those airstrips too ;)

our big dani plane as well as several others that are bigger than a cessna, unfortunately we can't start and land anywhere there. very very unfortunate

  11. i think that there are apparently quite unrealistic expectations of club owners. a club is run for fun and enjoyment. out of heart and soul. a club will never be profitable in sl. as far as dj tips are concerned, it's natural for me to tip, my amounts are usually between 100 and 300l, the host usually gets half of it. it's a lot of work to put together a set and mix live.
tips are voluntary, but you should always keep in mind that it's an appreciation. besides that, the music should be purchased, as well as good software and hardware. personally, i don't think much of music requests and moderation, but i'm happy when a good dj carries me away on his cloud of sound

ps: you should never forget that a line up of good djs brings traffic to the club

June 19th is opening day.  Three weeks away.

I suspect that music schedules will appear once things are opened or perhaps just prior. So just be patient.  Last year the folks playing didn't know their times (well some of them posting here  anyway) until RIGHT before opening.

Okay, thanks... the reason I ask is because I'm playing myself and I need to schedule my own dates

IMO you have the right idea about DJ'ing. The motivation should be the music, not the money.
You mentioned an OS change, I'm a Linux user myself and should you wish to ever get into DJ'ing again (even if just for your own b-day party or so) you should have a look into Mixxx. People compare it to Tractor and VirtualDJ (i have no experience with those) only it's free and available for Mac, Windows and Linux.

i use mixxx on the mac and i am very satisfied with it. you have countless possibilities and the quality is very good. i can't complain. it doesn't always have to be expensive

I love music and I love to share my music with people. I am definitely not in it for the money, although it's nice to be able to buy a new pair of shoes after a few hours of DJing. I consider tips a token of appreciation, but I am just as happy with, say, a 100L$ tip (which is  more than I am counting on for a tip), as I am with someone saying "OMG I love this band" and starts talking about what that band means to them.

But as DJ, I find it a grave insult if there are people in the club, but after 30 minutes my stream still shows 0 listeners. Makes me wanna flip a table and bolt right out of there. Tips would not make up for that lack of respect.

P.S. I am well aware that some people in SL have a hearing disability, but when they admit "oh, I wasn't listening, I was playing my own music" then that's a clear slap in the face.

that was the main reason why i started dj a little more than a year ago. i would like to hear something different from the usual and play very unknown pieces mostly. i also found a nice place to play, i have my own places, but if you are unknown, you usually don't have many guests. you can't really get into the really well visited places - which also offer selected music. and there are very few good places where mainstream music is not played. i avoid mainstream clubs because i can't listen to it anymore. if there are no guests in the first half hour, i close my stream and leave, because i can play at home on my own. but fortunately this doesn't happen so often 😉

  15. i'm a dj myself and i do it mainly because of the music, which takes up a big part of my life for me. of course i share that. but if you stand for say 200L for several hours and play, it's not very motivating, at some point you stop. because it's a lot of work to put together a good set and not just to play finished playlists. you don't want to get rich with it anyway ;) but i see it as recognition and appreciation
i personally type most of the time when i go to clubs. but i also go to a dj specifically when i want to hear him. clubs that use spam to beg for lindenlove don't get anything from me and are left immediately. but this happens almost never at the places i visit
i have never experienced it myself that a dj gets upset and even angry when too little is thrown into his pot. then he probably has the wrong occupation and should look for something else. just as little money is earned by running a club, that is a well-known misconception. you do something like that because you like it or not at all

  16. as a grid traveller, pilot and glider i hate 0sec orbs. i have made a list of regions which i do not fly over anymore. i also use orbs at home. but only when i want to be undisturbed with my husband. and this is set up in a way that everybody can fly over them without problems. i can't understand this kind of behaviour in sailing areas. i don't understand why these people don't use a standalone sim/parcel. oh yes: even with banlines and orbs you can zoom into your parcel. i recommend to deactivate the visibility

    Because "channel conflict".  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_conflict

LL is not "required" to restore any Blake Sea waterway that they may have impacted.  But LL makes money from the regions that private estates lease, which is one land sales model/channel.  They also make money from mainland leased directly by residents, another channel.  And of course they make money from LHs, a third land sales channel.  When LL sets up LH regions that provide the same sort of estate experience that a private estate was created to provide, they are competing with themselves.  When LL moves unique attractions such as the Galaxy or unimpeded waterways from the Blake Sea to enhance their own competing estates, they are projecting disdain for the income that estate owners (as well as mainland renters) who enjoyed those attractions provide to LL.

As for 'regions cost money to run', I've never observed that LL cares much about the overhead of new regions.  Think about it; once you have the grid set up, your contracts with Amazon and other providers in place, an extra 25 regions would be no big deal, from an expense point of view.  They haven't flinched at SSP, have they?

So.  Is VictoriBelle beautiful?  Yes, but it's a slap in the face of Victorian estate managers.  Which LL has not acknowledged in any way; they appear to have the same disdain for estate managers that some here have.

If LL provides a tropical/beachy theme for Linden Homes, they will be competing directly with Fruitlands/Eden.  Will they chat it over with Elbag?  I haz my doubts.

The term 'land baron' is laughable now.  Times have changed, and the profit model that Ansche Chung made her fortune with no longer exists.  Private estates are smaller and they scrape by; if they require too much maintenance, they simply fold, because their owners are generally also working for a living and cannot afford to devote a lot of time to their SL business.  So perhaps LL has decided they don't need private estates now, they will simply copy the estate's value proposition, and very likely execute the builds better.  Perhaps a large tropical island could have Mt. Gal erupting regularly, with lava flows that can actually destroy a few resident homes, which would be a lot of fun.

Embracing Channel Conflict is declaring to anyone watching that you are not interested in being a good partner to your customers.  It is an unhealthy business model.  It leads to groups of customers getting fed up and storming off.  But LL may not care.  I love Belli, but I am saddened by LL (once again) turning its back on estate managers and other customers who have stuck with them through thick and thin.

    thanks, nika, nothing to add
