light/shade tab then down to batch bake played with them settings then convert/close in it bakes the lights but my uv maps always turn black when I do that
-
Okay so uv mapping in maya....I always use automapping it tends to break it down just how I want it but when it comes to laying my textures outin bake my lights its like okay they bake & the texture adds but when i place them inworld its always black empty spacees like this.....why is that?
-
okay ill try to google some right now, mean while I just exported the room inworld in only thing that didnt come in right was the floor... but everything else had the correct texture .... why is that?
-
what is it that your trying to upload? it may not need such a high level of detial...

Nope I been using Maya for a while nothing major just you know trying things out like you said in I currently just did what you said I tet out different ways in the best way was to just do one block in extrude only beacuse it gives you both faces when you extport it inworld outside & inside just as long as your face normals are set correctly so thanks with helping me with that. I know I ask alot of questions lol but my last main question is the main step that I been having problems with for some time now it has to do with my lights. I think im confusing myself when it comes down to baking. My steps are simple 1.assign new material....in this case it would be ....lambert> flie> in my wall texture 2. one I have that made I go inside in select all my wall that I want to have that texture in apply it 3. I do the floor texture same as my 1st step...lambert>flie>in floor texture once I have that i apply the floor 4. my sunlight in area lights are already placed in their correct places. 5. I render my baisc room to see it in live time AFTER that im stuck ... with baking my lights to my own textures I dont no witch tab to go to or should I have a uv map 1st?
-
Okay so my next question is you no how when people who build INWORLD use one single block of a cube for each part of the wall who you say it was okay to do that in maya for the mesh homes? or would you say one block with extrudeing?
-
a planer map for each wall & window?
-
hmmm...how would I break this down into a uv ? heres a picture of the room.
-
L0L, okay ill check but I dont think its has to do with my naming :matte-motes-frown: what i'm trying to understand is if the room is a 4 sided room nothing to big or small does it still need a UV MAP?
-
I'm having troubles with baking my light & textures in Maya.... Its for a MESH room....wasn't sure if I had to give the room itself a UV MAP? Basically its a 3 walled room 4th wall is all windows.... Basic white wall texture wooded floor... Have the sun light beaming in ..I thought maybe if I created a shadeder for the texture it could maybe work? Another thing could I do global-illumination-texture-baking-lightmapping????

THIS, is what it looks like in phys mood
-
OKAY, now I think I got it BUT its now invisble outside of this I dont no what I did wrong....
-
In that would only work if I have a phys shape 1st correct? also in maya in order to be able to see inside & out side of the building I need to make my normals visble correct? For my phys mesh/map they need to be single planes on the outsides of the house top in bottom left an right correct?
-
I think thats what it is I need a physics mesh as you said....think thats where im having my problem at because I cant walk through it in world in I tryed to create a physics mesh but its wrong.

ALL, I said that I was new to modeling in MAYA 2013 excuse me if you over read that part..... In I understand ploy very well what I don't understand is how to mapping it up for SL uses in make it able for me to walk inside of the buildings.......... There are no TUTS clearly if their was I would of watch them 0.o but thanx anyway ill keep looking around in trying it out myself ....
