  1. Oh, wow, thank you Charolotte. I guess I didn't notice this option earlier. I am only using a small12" (I think) monitor that is on the MacBook Air. I can't wait to get a solution to my problem. lol
  2. Again, I apologize if these multiple threads are against the rules here on this board, but I'm new and not sure what rules apply. I'm just making this third (and hopefully final) post because I cannot "respond" in the other two I made. - I tried the alternate avatar suggestion and it did not work. - I tried the teleporting in and out (and all over the place) suggestion and it didn't work. Please refer to these two threads for my information. Also, I have tried just about everything and nothing seems to work. First thread: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Land/How-can-I-walk-or-fly-into-new-parcels/qaq-p/1281739 Second thread: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Land/Walking-and-flying-into-new-sim-problem-Almost-fixed/qaq-p/1281903 Thank you very much in advance, guys!
  3. I apologize if this is redundant, but I feel like I'm very close to an answer! Rollg Loon's suggestion that I turn off my firewall actually fixed part of the problem. I can now successfully fly or walk into new sims (I was mistakely calling them parcels) without being logged out of the game. The only problem now, however, is that nothing in the new sim will load. I have attached a screen shot so you can see what it looks like. Thank you so much, Rollg Loon! At least now I can safely return to a sim if I accidently leave it (without being logged off and have to annoyingly restart the Second Life program). Also, thank you guys so much for quickly responding to my questions. You guys are fast! Please refer to my other question as to what's been happening here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Land/How-can-I-walk-or-fly-into-new-parcels/qaq-p/1281739#M4732 Here's my new screen shot: http://i44.tinypic.com/nwzo5c.png Now, as you can see, I am looking at the same place I was looking in the other screen shot, but this time I am in the South sim (not parcel) that was described in the other screen shot. I am facing the West now, I believe. I have tried restarting my modem, computer, and Second Life software; that hasn't corrected this new problem. Any more tips?
  4. I previously asked this question, with a little bit different wording, and got some answers. The answers didn't fix my problem, however. I really am starting to like Second Life and so I thought I would give this one last shot before giving up on Second Life. Four years ago, I used Second Life on a Windows laptop and without any problems. I am currently using a MacBook Air (less than a year and a half old) and everything seems to be working okay, but there are some strange problems. - Cannot buy in-world items sometimes. (Only works 10% of the time.) - Cannot walk or fly into new parcels (sqare areas of land, I believe they're servers that hold 25 people or something like that.) - Cannot teleport into new parcels while in game. (I have to restart the game to teleport somewhere new.) Those are the three main problems, but this thread is about the biggest inconvenience; that is, not being able to travel normally through the world of Second Life. Most people can fly, walk, or run in Second Life without being confined into one large square area of land (one parcel). I used to be able to do this when I used to play. Now, however, I am constantly confined to whichever parcel I originally start in (I can choose where I start, of course). So, when friends want to freely walk or fly into an area right near the current parcel (there are always eight near-by parcels), I have to find out what that parcel is called and/or ask them to give me a link so I can restart the game and teleport there. I have linked a screen shot to demonstrate what I see in-game. - I am not banned from any parcels. - Everything seems to load just fine. (My inventory, people's avatars, et cetera.) - My internet connection is very fast. (AT&T DSL, 11+ Mbps.) - I have tried completely reinstalling Second Life (newest viewer) and Firestorm (newest viewer). - I have adjusted my in-game settings several times, attempting to solve the problem that way, to no avail. - I have restarted my computer and modem. I'm just curious to know what's wrong with my program and if anyone knows a fix for this. It would be much appreciated, seeing as how this game truly is beautiful, interesting, and a breeding ground for creative people and artists. Thanks in advance, guys, and I'm sorry I had to come back and bug you for more information. I just realized that my last question was so brief and lacked so much helpful knowledge as to my problem, that I should give it one more shot. Thank you again! Truly. Glynn Ivory P.S. Here is the screen shot of my problem. http://i44.tinypic.com/20tl4rs.png Here, the graphics are turned down a little bit, but again, it's not really a graphics problem I don't think. You can see that there are three parcels missing in this picture. One to the left, which would be bordering that line (which marks the South, I believe, edge of the parcel). One at the tip (the top, which would be the South-West border) and one to the right (which would be the West). Most people can see what is in those parcels, as though there is no problem whatsoever, and can walk or fly into them without any problem at all. If I attempt to walk or fly into them, the avatar becomes stuck as though he's walking while frozen and after a minute or so it will log me out of the game saying I have become disconnected.
  5. I'm not banned. I can teleport anywhere, but not walk/fly there. Also, I can see where parcels end, it just shows nothing where normally there would be contnuous land. Someone please help this makes the game lame.
