  1. Thanks for all the answears! I will look into the recommended places and ask around for more information about previous works done. As for the NPC's im still looking for more information but i hope il find more from the previous works and in the scripting forum! Once again; Thanks! //Nicklas
  2. That sounds very much like what we're trying to create here it HiG! As of right now i cannot access SL, but as soon as i can i will teleport to the location you mentioned. Thank you!
  3. Thanks for your answear! I have to look more into LSL to see what it allows. The basic idea is to have automated characters (NPC's) that has a pre-programmed way of acting and talking. The goal is to have students talk to the NPC and trough interaction see what illness the NPC is suffering from trough multiple choices and actions. We have programmers capable of programming in C++ and such. Nothing surgical or similar will be done, mainly simple interactions where the NPC communicates a problem with the student that tries to pinpoint the problem. When you say Viewer, do you mean a "third party client" for Second Life? Is there any starting program used or would the programmer have to create it from scratch. My goal with this thesis is to create a recommendation for the programming team (im in the Graphics team) as to how and why this should be done. So i want to be able to leave a recommendation as to what language and type of bot/script they should use.
  4. Hi! (I hope this is the right section to post this in!) I'm a student at a university in Gävle (Sweden). I'm working on a my thesis and right now I'm working on a background check for what possibilities Second Life has to offer as a teaching tool for nursing students. The basic idea is to bring different year cohort together and let them practice scenarios together where they have to interact and help different patients. But we also want them to be able to do it if they are alone, which brings fourth the need of a bot! As far as customization second life seems optimal for this type of learning, but one thing that I'm having difficulties with is the use of Bots. We're looking to create one or more bots that can play a scenario and/or answer questions on how they are feeling and such things. But i cannot find any information as to what scripting languages SL allows. So im turning to the forums for some help! Is there anywhere i can read up on what limitations the coding/scripting has and what language is used? Any information is greatly appreciated! Also; i know that similar things has been done before, so any tips on locations i can visit in game for more information or even meeting people working with similar projects will be immensely appreciated! //Nicklas!
