  1. Revisiting this subject with all the recent changes to SL. I am currently connecting at an average of 235Mbps and am considering reducing my internet plan to 100Mbps to save a lot of money. Am I going to notice a difference? It's a cable connection that is very stable. I'm on Apple M3 iMac, which is not copacetic with SL as far as fps is concerned. There is one other internet user in the house running Youtube a lot by WiFi connection to modem. I am hardwired by Gigabit ethernet.
  2. It might need to be reviewed before it shows up in the Issues list, dunno. The summary title is: EVENT CALENDAR POSTING ISSUE - FULTERS GONE WILD LOL
  3. I've submitted a bug report on the jira site. Please login to jira and vote for the issue: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-5246
  4. I've submitted a bug report on the jira. Please go vote for it: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-5246
  5. I've posted the following issue to the jira. Since the recent unscheduled maintenance period we've begun to have a filtering error: The event appears to contain adult material, but is on a General or Mature region. Please choose an adult region. Refer to the Maturity ratings wiki page for more details. We don't do adult content. What we have always done though is post a disclaimer for each event: ABOUT: Dance club, shops, hangout, Blues, RnB, Funk, Soul, deejays, events, live musicians, dancing, no drama, no sex, no nudity, no RP, no poofers/particles/lights, no child AVs or prim kids. When I delete our disclaimer I might be able to post. However it seem like making a music event sound sexy or hot also kicks in the filter. It chokes on terms like "kick butt." That's plain ridiculous. And Saying that something, be it music or fashion, is sexy should not be the cause of a filtering error, much less a disclaimer denying adult activity. PLEASE CHANGE/FIX THE FILTERS! I cannot post this event: AM QUAR - LIVE MARDI GRAS BLUES @ HOTLANTA!!! JOIN THE PARTY ON THE ROOF as AM QUAR Rocks your Carnival BLUES tonight for Samedi Gras @ Hotlanta! AM is an accomplished Canadian Blues and Rock guitarist who plays songs from SRV and many others, Classic Blues as well as his own compositions of Blues-Rock. Y'all come join the celebration! Costumes encouraged, but keep the script count low . LAISSEZ LES BON TEMPS ROULLEZ! Direct slurl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Northfarthing/36/231/619 AM QUAR - King of Samedi Gras! AM is from Montreal, Canada. He started learning to play guitar at the age of fifteen. His first influences were from Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. He has his home Studio, so it's easy to work on his compositions. IMPORTANT! PLEASE KEEP SCRIPTS TO A MINIMUM. PLEASE OBSERVE HOTLANTA'S RULES AND SIM COVENANT. Can someone please tell me what is adult rating about that?!
  6. Alrighty then...changed again, back to St. Patrick's Day:) Related question: I have separate listings for a St. Patty's banner and a balloon set so folks can buy one or the other. However, I'd like to also offer as a set with a reduced priced than buying separate. How do I go about that properly? Is that a new folder upload with all items included and named as a set?
  7. ahhh, thanks, I didn't know. I have no clue how to list it then, LOL. I listed a St. Patty's hat under Celebrations>Holidays>St. Patrick's Day. I've just changed it to Avatar Accessories>Hats, Gloves & Scarves>Hats. But, honestly it seems like a 50/50 chance on how folks would search that. LOL It does seem to me that there are products that fit in multiple appropriate categories and would yield better results reults in search if they could be listed that way....One product, multiple related categoies. That wouldn't seem to be spam to me, just good marketing. How to prevent folks from misusing categories, well, I have no clue.
  8. How do I list a direct delivery product in multiple, appropriate categories in marketplace? Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm very new to selling on MP. For all the world it looks like I'd have to re-upload for each category....?
  9. It's surprising and disappointing how many people do not check business names in any life before they proceed to use it. I I found this to be the case with my business name, if they were in a similar business to my own, I would approach them politely without accusation and let them know you've been operating with that business name since DATE HERE. Ask them politely if they would consider changing their store name. If they become defensive I'd simply bow out of the conversation and adjust what I can on my own end. This might be adding to the store LM description "the original Store A in SL since Jan. 2008." Place a sign saying similar at your stores location(s). Do the same on MP. You may also put disclaimers so that people who are dissatisfied with product from the other store are not compelled to come complaining to you. I find remaining professional and polite is always the better path. I've also been pleasantly surprised by some who have responded in kind by being cooperative of my cordial request. Don't buy drama for a moment of anger, it's just not worth it.
  10. What are the official definitions of reportable (AR) Bumps, Pushes and Hits? Also, are all such occurrences noted in the viewers Bumps, Pushes and Hit window or do some offensive gadgets do these things descretely? Technical explanations, but you might dumb it down a little :matte-motes-wink-tongue:
  11. I sent out a PSA notice to our group to warn them about this phishing link being sent through group chats. I had heear rumors of suh a link but waited till I found verification or saw one myself; the latter occurred. I filed an Abuse Report but I think it's very linkely that the avatar account may be an inactive account that was hacked. An Abuse Report doesn't seem strong enough though and it seems there should be a way to report this as an issue to LL. I have no idea how though. Following is what I sent to warn our group my way of notecard attached to a notice; I've Xed out the http to kil the link in this post: PSA WARNING: PHISHING LINK I've held back from posting until I could verify, but there is post circulating in groups that IS A PHISHING LINK. Phishing means they are trying to get certain information from you to further get at your assets/accounts. The one I saw said: [Avatar Name Remove]: GET 2000$L Instantly, Just Verify Your Avatar XhttpX://GetFreeLindens.tk Click, Verify, And WIN 2000$L !!! It leads to a site that wants you credit card information. They are using a .tk free domain which in turn leads to another fake domain pretending making it look like a site that gives donations to unicef if you take the time to read the domain name. They use the Second Life logo but it is not linked to Second Life. It does, however, seem to link to German PayPal. I didn't test it, of course, but it's completely possible that you might be making a payment to their account if you enter the credit card information. I omitted the avatar name because it is highly probably that someone has simply hacked an inactive account. NEVER GIVE YOU SL ACCOUNT INFO to any site that is not verified as being Second Life. These would always be ".secondlife.com" or ."lindenlabs.com." Never "secondlife.somedomain.com" or similar. NEVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO to verify your identity. I did an AR report as the first line of action and I will attempt to report the posts and web sire to Linden Labs, TK domains and PayPal. If you see this or similar links being sent to groups please record it and report it.
  12. I have noticed a sudden, then sustained drop in clicks over that past couple of weeks. I don't know the life cycle of clicks; do they last a week, a month, until I update? Are clicks added immediately, totaled daily, weekly, etc? I had read something about them resetting to zero when I update the ad, but are they otherwsie reset at certain intervals if I do no updates? @ Valerie: Thanks for replying, but no, I'm afraid I wasn't clear. I' refering to the classified statistics reported when I view my ad in my profile. Near the bottom where it says "Clicks: XX teleport, XX map, XX profile." I've read the "Do classifieds have stats?" section of the Knowledge Base page you linked to several times and the answer isn't there...as it should be. I still have the same questions as above, but I think the drop, and now seeming frozen state of clicks may be connected to this issue: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7477
  13. I may have missed the information somewhere in this thread. If the the main server deploy occurred May 17th and the deploy version is 11.05.11.229644, then why are the sims I visit, one where I work and another for home, still on 11.05.05.228940? Do we have to restart the sim ourselves to propagate the deploy? I've also visited a protected sim on agni: You are at 256748.2, 258539.8, 4.9 in Theodrada located at sim9442.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.43.145:13013)Second Life Server 11.05.05.228940 Forgive me for being clueless. I Have no head for tech. NVM: I missed Oskar's additional post: 05-17-2011 08:41 AM We had some intermittent server issues with the rolling restart today and made the decision to halt the roll and set the grid back to the stable trunk version. I'll post more details as I have them. __Oskar
