I can't eat at Golden Corral after seeing people's children put their hands into the chocolate fountain, grab handfuls, lick it off, and then reach for more. I've been a kid, I know what's on those hands.

Never mind people who put sushi back after touching it.

Ewww! Yes, I won't go to family style buffets either. I'm not a germaphobe or anything, but there are just some things that you know goes on when people are allowed access to touch all the food. We also have a sushi place near us that does what I call "conveyor belt sushi" where the food travels along on a moving track down the long community table that you pick the items off from as you like or put them back if you change your mind. Just NO. lol

You've reminded me of a family trip to NYC in 1983. We ate at two different delis over the course of that week and in both of them there were jars of pickles on the tables for people to gnosh. At both places there were half eaten pickles in the jars.

So began my realization that customers are not necessarily only the end link in the supply chain.

Many years ago, we went to a BBQ place one night and they would leave BBQ sauce and ketchup bottles on the table. This family came in and began using the one of the bottles. After pouring globs of BBQ sauce on their food and making a total mess,  one of them then proceeded to lick the BBQ sauce off the bottle that had dripped down the side of it.  Barf! I was aghast. We never went back to that place and to this day, I will NEVER use any bottles that are left on tables ever again. lol

I haven't looked in a long time, but I bet there are account options for what kinds of emails you want from LL.  If you turned off receiving certain kinds of emails, then you won't get this one.  Years ago, I turned off communications from the Lab to my alts.  They receive nothing.  Only my main account gets email communication from the Lab and is the only one of my accounts who received the year review.

Try checking your settings for notifications and emails.

    Yah, I bet that's it.

In the dashboard under Account > Change Email Settings > Email Subscription Settings > I've been unsubscribed for who knows how long. Prob since day one.

I tried changing it to subscribe, but of course I get an error.. .lol

I got my Rez Day stats back in April.  I can't beat your 42 days, but I know several people who log in every single day.  The login streak also takes into account all alts you may have.  I know this account, Cinnamon Mistwood, has not logged in 21 days in a row, but switching my alts constantly apparently still counts as a log-in.  Anyone who played the Bellisseria Halloween bucket hunt will have a lot more teleports and regions visited than average.  I refused to teleport to play so I didn't have as many.

Are your logins from one account only?

So these stats come by email? Even in 15 years of being in SL, I never recall ever getting them. lol

  5. I agree with the mention of finding a role-play community. I've been in SL for 15 1/2 years and I still find very interesting people to talk to who are mostly role-players, and I've made a lot of friends at those communities. Places  where you can develop your character and backstory and interact with others without having to go through the typical every day ZzZzZzZz "small talk". Usually, role-players will engage with you right off the bat if you engage with them and you have an interesting story to tell.

After a while, you'll find a certain group of role-players that you mesh where you  begin to feed off each other's emotes and storylines. That can then soon blossom into great friendships outside of role-play.

i bet there will be still people next year august who get this surprise..
It's not LL or forums or any other information point to blame that people don't read announcements. Or not log in for a month. Thats always been a bad excuse.

But yes... 27 days is a very short time.

I agree that ignorance is no excuse but LL should also make it a priority to reach out far and wide outside of the forums to inform residents of changes when it comes to people's accounts that could possibly be in jeopardy.

it did have to do with the subject. I asked about the inworld gatcha vendors where the creator is not maintaining the store actively. like zombie stores where the income is good enough to pay for the land and the store is basically a zombie.

This is why there is also a big issue with the amount of time that has been given to take down the Gacha vendors. 30 days is incredibly short and I haven't  seen any wide spread public outreach yet about this whole issue outside of the forums and in some in-world groups. I'm sure there are many who will be getting a big surprise at the end of the month who wouldn't otherwise know what is going on. Will LL send out a mass email to all registered residents? I'm guessing not. I agree with someone else who said earlier this time limit should be extended until the end of the year for people to sort out their items, but of course, we don't know the details of the legalities that LL has been told by the powers that be.

If I had even a single L$ for every time someone claims that SL "will be dead"......................

lol. I was just having a convo with my Sister about this. I've been in SL for over 14 1/2 years and have heard that every time there was some sort of big change. Someone always says it. I remember way back when REAL gambling was fine in SL. Casinos, Poker, slot machines, sports betting...etc. It was all fine at one point. After LL was forced by laws to ban it, we heard "SL will be dead because of this!" When LL merged Teen grid: "Oh noes, kids will take over SL and that will be the end of it!!" When LL implemented mesh: "Ahhh!!! People who don't make mesh will close their stores, creators will leave and SL will be finished!!" When Sansar was announced: "LL will abandon SL and it will be officially dead!!!" LOL. Yet none of that was true.  But what would be true in "SL being dead" is if LL didn't comply with the laws and are sued or worse, shut down entirely because of non compliance.

This whole Gacha thing is not LL's fault. They are complying with the laws that will actually keep them out of legal trouble and in turn, keep SL alive and well for everyone.

Perhaps it is time for Linden Lab to end the secrecy and make everyone’s alts be discoverable. Maybe if you looked at an avatar’s profile it would have all associated accounts by IP or a special code embedded into avatars by the client viewer. It could bring about an end to heartbreak and griefing.

No offence Bree, but this would be a terrible thing to implement. What about people who have been stalked in SL and have needed to make an alt to escape that abuse? With that idea you propose, they would never be able obtain their privacy again.
