  1. Due to the way Blender 2.49 works, I cannot edit the rigging itself without causes a jumbled mess when I try to import. Due to this, the mesh is alligned to an unmodified SL rigging as a human, then the animation makes it into the position pictures above. Here is a picture (too big for SL forums uploading to see) of the rigging in Blender on the top. On the bottom I've selected the faces that (I think, not 100% sure) cause this lighting problem. Whenever the head rotates 90 degrees backwards in the pictures animation pose, it causes those particular faces to flip nearly 180 degrees. Still, Blender shows absolutly no lighting issues when it's rotated the same degrees as Second Life. Here is a picture of blender's screen showing the same angle/position as the ones taken in SL in my other post: Since it's working just fine in Blender, it should work just fine in Second Life too, as all my other mesh's never had such an issue. Also, something strange I noticed, if I delete the nearby properly shaded faces in Second Life using Blender, and recreate them exactly the same as they were, they too get this insanely bad lighting problem.
  2. Hello, I have made a number of rigged meshes in the past, but I am completely stumped as to what's causing this lighting issue. This is my first 4-legged mesh by the way (using a custom animation to bend like a dog), so there might be something obvious I'm missing. If it matters, the Left and Right thighs are rotated 90 degrees up/forward, the Left/Right "shoulders" are rotated 90 degrees inward, and the Neck is rotated 90 degrees to the back in order to get the proper stand. I am on the Aditi Test Grid, so as to not waste any $L. Here is a picture from the front of the mesh I'm working on, notice how there are very bright light bumps? It is a completly smooth mesh (no vertices are jutting out where the light brightens), and in Blender I do not see those lighting issues at all. It occurs in various parts of the mesh, but it is extremely noticable there. What can cause this issue? In all of my other rigged meshes, I have not experienced this issue, and I cannot seem to figure out why this one is doing this. EDIT: Update, I made a very bright green light right next to the mesh in SL, and the white bumps are NOT turning green with it, even when the light is directly in front of the mesh. Please help me, this is completely confusing me and definatly ruins the mesh if I can't fix this lighting issue.
  3. @Reeva - That's not good. Do you remember if the glitch fixed itself when you logged into Agni again, then back to Aditi? I'm just trying to figure out what caused it to seemingly randomly fix itself. @Benn - There is no problem with my contact list at all, it remembers any changes to that without issues.
  4. In my last Aditi session, I did a number of things including mesh uploads, lots and lots of editing of a highly detailed item, etc. Everything seemed fine, so after I was done, I logged out. When I log back in, first of all it says "Location not found" all the time, despite I had it on "My Last Location" and was in Morris, a perfectly valid region. I logged into the generic starting place it stuck me in, then tried TPing to Morris, it worked without any problems. That was weird. Next, ALL of my meshes I uploaded previously are completely gone, and ALL of my editing on the highly detailed item was lost. 4 hours 100% completely wasted. Why isn't Aditi saving my progress when I do anything on it, log out, and relogin to it? It's not even remembering what sim I was on, any uploads period, any edits, any ANYTHING. Please help, this is just......so frustrating
  5. Lol, thank you too Alicia Knowing how much I upload, i'm sure I'll need it all, thanks everyone ^^
  6. Thank you very much Reeva I've been on Aditi since Meshes firts came out, and never once had a system accredidation (besides the $60,000 when I started). They really need to do more of those
  7. I had the standard ~$55,000 L on Aditi yesterday, but due to a security leak on my computer, I had to change my password. Today when I logged into Aditi, my $L balance is $0 on Aditi. What happened? I need $L to test my mesh uploads. EDIT: Apparently changing your password causes a copy of your avatar on the main grid to Aditi. That's fine and all, but it copied the $L too, which was $0. I NEED to be able to test my rigged mesh uploads, is there any way I can get my $L back on Aditi?
  8. EDIT: I found a "RenderHiddenObjects" in the Debug menu was False, I changed it to true, and it's all working again.
  9. Baically, highlights seem to not work right. Whenever I highlight something, the highlights are NOT visible through other prims and/or avatars. It should look like this: (NOT my picture) Normal What mine does: Bugged? As you can see, the highlights are not seeable through the prim, as they should be. It's effecting all my objects and all prims. Please help, this is making building a nightmare.
  10. Hello everyone. My character is very short, and I've been trying to lower the camera (not change it's angle, atually lowering the camera), and I managed to succeed. The camera now is lower, and my avatar is in a much better view. However, after that, everytime I clicked my avatar to move, the camera would recenter itself to..... well, looking right up my character's butt. I managed to fix this by entering the debug settings, and changing "ClickOnAvatarKeepsCamera" to True. That was pretty easy. The problem now is that when I start walking using the arrow keys and/or WASD, the camera resets itself to looking right up my character's butt. Is there anyway to stop the camera from moving when you walk using arrow keys or WASD?
  11. Thank you for replying, I tried exporting the model using Blender 2.59, but it's still giving me the rotational problem. I will go through the playlist later to ensure I am doing it entirely right, but I'm 99% sure I am not doing anything incorrectly. Do you have any other ideas of what might cause the rotation and skin weight problems? That playlsit is VERY long, and if it's just one mistake I'm making, it'd be a big waste of time watching the ntire thing to find the problem.
  12. This is a strange problem I have not seen anywhere before. I use Blender 2.58 and 2.49a, and used the easy rigging method using the simplebot pre-rigged avatar on a mesh I had handy that I ripped from a game (I am NOT EVER going to actual upload the avatar, I am just using it in the PREVIEW window only to make sure it works, which it doesn't, thereby not wasting my time on a original mesh I'll make. Again, I'm aware it's copyrighted by Square Enix, I am NEVER going to actually upload it). Once done, I export it using COLLADA. I tested the rig motions in Blender, and they were spot on, no problems. Problems in 2.58: 1 - It rotates the model 90 degrees clockwise, and 90 degrees "inward". Seen here: http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/3003/snapshot001ia.png 2 - When I press to preview Skin Weights, it does..... this interesting thing: http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/4915/snapshot002b.png I have tried rotating my model in Blender to accomodate for this problem, but it still uploads the same way. Problems in 2.49a: 1 - It says "Missing Required Level of Detail", and I can't preview it. Someone please help, I've waited for rigging support in SL for a long time, but I seem to be having a problem I've not seen mentioned before. EDIT Lots of edit updates, done now.
  13. Yea, my avatar I'm making are pure sculpty, so this thing would work fine. I'll just need to wait for the creator of NOTSO BIGAV's to reply to my IM and/or Notecard, thanks everyone
  14. Nice to know they exist, but that's way too small. I only need maybe half or so the shortest size on Appearance. EDIT https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/NOTSO-BIGAVS-BOX/928632 That's the kind of thing I want, but 1 foot is still too short. Can this be modified to be like 3 feet?
  15. I know of the tiny avatar thing, but that makes knees and elbows unusable. Is there any way (script, attachment, another client, anything) to make your avatar shorter than what the Appearance tab allows? I'm making some very strangely proportioned avatars (Riolu, I.E.) that have heads really big, but if I attach the head where the head goes on the currently shortest avatar, scale wise, it'd be as tall as a 6 foot human, which is way off. Is there anyway to make your avtar height shorter than Appearance allows?
