  1. That seems pretty exciting.

@Patch Linden  I like how CasperVend has the ability to refund you instantly if you are making a duplicate purchase, and tells you, you have already bought that item. I do not like how not all merchants use it, and then it is a hassle to get your money back, if in fact they will refund you at all.

Would be great if it was a standard of how it operates.

I get that but having to do that over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, etc etc etc.....thats what i am saying. Its time consuming because there is no batch upload when you have hundreds of gachas. Thats been my whole original point.

Which I am guessing is how most customers who have bought gacha's and have put the billion's of extra's up for sale on MP, feel. I have no pity for that lol

I have enjoyed paying gacha many many times, but I am not sad, mostly feeling indifferent, to see them go.

    sorry.. I was probably unclear.

in my scenario a maker is selling all of their items randomly through one vendor. they have never made gatchas. this is dumb and they wouldn't make much money, but they want to do it like that. we can't stop them.

what is the difference between that and what is shown in the video other then the inventory is smaller?

selling an item randomly in a vendor, is the same as selling a gacha. if you don't know what that random item is before you buy it, it would be considered a gacha

Romy, I did try all sorts of things. It just doesn't do.
I stopped making gachas for a very long time, because of all the whining, hate, insults, begging (generally in that order in a single conversation).
It turned out that all those people who said "I would buy your items individually at a fair price" suddenly vanished, poof! gone! when I stopped making gachas.
This month I decided to make one and I am glad I did, because it turns out it was my last opportunity to do so, and it confirmed the difference : for me this mechanism is the only one that makes creating these statues even remotely worthwhile.

ah yes, I see. Moving forward no one will be able to sell gachas, and hopefully you will see a difference because of it. I mean, the shopping experience will be different for most of us in a month.

Breaking apart means separate vendors for each item (with all the configs like item name and price), possibly new pictures (and the editing) if the maker cares about how they are perceived, possibly making multiples if they want to allow different permissions, changing all the items to copy/no-trans to align with the rest of their store, etc. Or else they just take the items away from being sold, which is work and future money down the drain.

Basically what I thought, change the perms, maybe the name and drop into a compliant vendor, possibly new pic with updated text. Does not seem over complicated to me.

But of course I'm not the one doing it.

Like I said, I hope Silas and all the creators of gacha can find a solution they are comfortable with moving forward.

Silas, why not sell the items singly or as a set or groups? It is almost the same as what you have here if you sell them singly. Your art and creativity are amazing and inspiring. Some of the most unique and best art I have seen in virtual. I do hope you can find a solution you are comfortable with going forward.

  7. 7 seas is not the only fishing system in SL. If linden labs is going to mess with that, they will have to look at all of them. I know very little about breedables, I would think they would have to look at how different ones operate. Without criteria clarification, it is a lot of speculation.

  8. I feel like the criteria for *gacha* should be defined more clearly. From the original announcement it appeared as tho the criteria was purchasing an *unknown item * from any gacha type machine. Now we are seeing talk of permission's being a deciding factor? Would just like to see some clear definitions.

What I am dying to find out is how those SL stores, which are either completely or largely gachas, will retool (e.g. Jian pets, Hideki home decor, Garbaggio dolls). Gachas make up a significant part of their business, and they have dozens and dozens of gachas in their stores for which they abruptly need to find alternative sales mechanisms.I am sure some of them will just decide to shut down completely, rather than bother to do all this work. This is going to have spin-off effects on the SL economy.

I have been chatting with one gallery owner who sold much of his artwork and sculpture via gacha machines. He tells me he doesn’t see how he will be able to meet his tier with regular sales, and he is seriously pondering packing up and leaving Second Life, which makes me sad.

I am also curious to see how creators will adapt. Will miss playing gacha's from time to time I am sure, but excited to see what change this will bring. Hopefully positive ones.

I am really glad to see this go but it should of been done years ago. Gacha has totally trashed the search function in marketplace because instead of finding what your looking for you get 1000's of worthless gacha resale items instead. 2nd it realy is gambling and a lot of machines hardly ever spit out a rare item making you wonder if the mechanic in the script has been rigged in a way to hardly ever spit out a rare so the buyer keeps spending money. 3rd there are people in SL who do nothing but play these machines on ALT accounts and resell for no other reason then to profit. Its just bad all around. If you want to make money then make your own products and sell them. Good riddance.

No one is profiting from gacha resale. If they are they are, they are an exception by a lot. At best gacha resellers regain a portion of the money they spent in the first place. That is not profit, that is not even breaking even.

Cross-posted from the thread in General Discussion:

If you are able to log into one but not the other .... While it might cause it to be worse, log out of the one you are/can log into, then try the other. if that works, you should now be able to log into both.

ETA: Meaning log out of any parts you are able to currently log into, then try to log into the part you couldn't before. That worked earlier, after the issue was marked as resolved.

No idea how to help anyone that cannot log into either.

Was not really sure what you meant by this, then i read the other thread in general discussion. I logged out of MP and then tried logging in again on seconlife.com and it worked. thank you.
