While only the blue area is rebel controlled, the entire region of Donetsk is the part I outlined in Red.  The blue and yellow parts of that outline are not 2 different regions.  Kramatorsk is part of Donetsk. Whether or not it is part of the rebel controlled area is not relevant to the sanctions.  The sanctions are against Donetsk.

DPR and LPR as they seem to like to be called only control the areas on the map there. That does not include the listed Oblasts. Donetsk and Luhansk Oblast are not LPR/DPR Controlled. The Sanctions list specifically the "independent" states.

Also: Look at the part where it states: Minsk II Ceasefire Lines. It clearly marks what is Ukrainian territory. LL Banning anyone beyond that is effectively incorrectly applying the sanctions unless the US Government specifically outlies the rest of the area as a "Covered Region" per their own guidance.

That's not Linden Labs making that decision though. They still do have to follow US laws first and foremost no matter what.

The sanctions would be targeting the areas controlled and recognized by Russia as the LPR/DPR. On the map there I circled "Kramatorsk is where they're from, which isn't part of that territory covered by the sanctions at all. I get where you're coming from for sure, but it seems like LL is brushing with an excessively large brush or not doing their research.

  3. Instead of suspending billing they're suspending the accounts of anyone that lives in Donetsk or Luhansk. Even ones that aren't part of the Russian/LPR/DPR controlled areas. Maybe I missed the memo on the sanctions hitting those areas too or something? But this seems a little nuts. (If you look at my map they are originally from the circled area. Which was still government controlled)

A friend of ours just had their SL account suspended by LL due to the sanctions despite not living in any of those mentioned areas. They've been living in Kyiv for the last few years and Kharkiv before that.

They had to flee from Kyiv due to the invasion and each day is touch and go on if they're going to die or not, their store is their full time job and Linden Labs just fully removed their ability to even manage their store or collect their earnings completely preventing them from getting much needed money while they remain away from their home.. They did this to a Ukrainian whos life is at risk.

Yeah. Pity, that. BTW in our last episode, my prims were returned after 4 days, with no comment whatsoever. As they should have been, at 350 over the limit.

So this one is hard to evaluate because I can't tell what it is exactly. A homestead? Charging to rename anything in SL seems crazy, as you can do it at will on the Mainland, but on private islands and homesteads, once you pick its name when you get it from the Lindens, you can't change its name unless you pay them a fee. So what is that fee? Since you can still re-name lots, a name change seems like a waste of time, but some people want it. So let's find out the cost to the landlord.

A grandfathered homestead now costs US $75 in tier. The new ones cost $99 I believe, it's on the website.

So that weekly rent seems like a princely sum for a homestead!

But if it is an entire island? That's only US $270. The grandfathered islands are US $175. The newer ones are now $229. So the owner makes US $41 in revenue each month? That may seem like a lot, especially to a low-rent Mainland agent like me, but it goes fast on content, service -- and failure to have full occupancy among your holdings. So I dunno. Maybe it's reasonable.

I believe it's true that there's a fee for upgrading your prims from 15,000 to 30,000 -- but can you roll it back for free?

In other words, it would be helpful if the OP expressed her costs in US dollars or euros, and then found out the landlord's costs for the same, and see if this makes sense. It does seem excessive on the face of it.

There is a huge competition among island dealers and a huge number of offerings so it seems like you should find another arrangement.

So the rent itself isn't the problem. It's actually not bad and totally reasonable I think. It is a full 20K Prim sim. But its an additional 5K per WEEK if you upgrade to a 30K.

    So 16866 turns into 21866L a week. 87464L a month total.

The issue is the cost from the land company for the upgrade. 60000L when it costs $30 USD from LL to do so. Name changes are 25USD, Land company charges 15k L. (Keep in mind. The 60K Linden fee they charge? None of it goes towards rent. It lines the owners pockets after they give LL the measly 30 USD to upgrade)

Roll back to 20K costs 30 USD as well but you have to wait a month. But the company in question here claims "It cant be downgraded" All in all you have to charge customers more to make money at the end of the day, that's business. But the prices the company I'm renting from now are trying to offer for these cheap services from LL are highway robbery and super scummy.

  5. For background:

We're currently renting from a certain land company. Our weekly tier is 16899.

I asked them about a prim increase from 20k to 30k, expecting $30 charge + maybe a little fee for them to make money. Naaah

From their Support site for a 30k Prim upgrade:

    1. Tier will be increased L$5,000 per week
    2. There is an upgrade fee of L$60,000
    3. Upgrading is a one way process, we cannot downgrade the prim counts

On top of this. They also charge 15k Linden for a name change.

I can totally understand having a upcharge to ensure you're making a profit but this seems like straight up scammy and land baron vampire nonsense. For reference, others charge like 7k for a 30k increase and somewhere around there for a name change.

    Look before you rent people.
