SL viewers launches but it remains blacked out!

I launch the SL Viewer but its window remains hald black and half grey (no pics on it, no words, no space to enter my loggin details).  So, I can enter my loggin details anywhere.  I checked my pc system and graphics card and everything seems to be according to SL recommendations...any ideas what's going on and how can i solve this? thanks

I would first reset the router- disconnect  it from power, leave it off for a few minutes, reconnect it.
