Hello,

I've downloaded the last official viewer but it is incredibilly slow. Even open a window is slow. I do not speak about walking. Avatars are grey and become coloured only after minutes. I've tried the same places with Imprudence. Any issue.

I've a quite powerfull computer ( intel i7 quad core and 8 gb of RAM ) so I do not believe it is the problem. I run Windows 7 64bits with all updates and I"ve an ATI Radeon HD 5700 with 1 gb of ram and latest drivers.

Right now, the processor is used around 25% and I've less then 4 gb of ram used.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank

My only suggestion:

Menu : Preferences : Setup, and then slide the "Maximum Bandwidth" slider way above the default 500 kbps.

If you've already done that, then perhaps cut down your draw distance.

If you've already done all that, I'll wait for wiser comments from the others.

I have the ATI 5770 and I leave "OpenGl Vertex Buffer Objects" enabled without any problems.  Your mileage may vary.

I don't usually use the SL viewer, but since there have been so many complaints lately, I figured I'd give it a run.

Took a measurement under Fraps; standard graphics tweaks, shadows, DOF, 8xAA (from Nvidia panel).  24-28 FPS in an unpopulated sim, 18-22 FPS in a sim with eight other avies.

Aside from being a little slow to respond to UI buttons, and a little slow starting up, I have no other problems.

Agree with OpenGL VBO, and set bandwidth a generous amount above 500.  Start with no AA, DOF, or shadows.

Current specs:

Intel  E5300 Dual-Core, 2.6GHz

4GB DDR2 RAM

 Zotac 1GB GTS250 Eco

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (streamlined, no unnecessary processes)

Kirsten's Viewer S21 (Niran-Fork) Full-shadows, 8xAA, DOF, Global-Illumination:  23-26 FPS nominal
