Question

I just joined Second Life and the first time I opened the viewer everything loaded correctly. But I exited and re-opened it to check out advanced mode and nothing would load properly. The environment was just water, floating objects, names, and partial body parts, and my avatar was just floating hair. It didn't continue to load. I tried exiting and opening the viewer again, clearing the cache, and restarting the computer, but nothing is helping. I'm using a new Macbook Pro, so I'm assuming the computer I'm using isn't the problem...

Here is a screenshot of what the viewer looks like: http://i56.tinypic.com/1zzowhu.png

Does anyone know what is wrong and what I can do to fix it?

Try to lower your graphics settings in the "me" > "preferences" menu. Disable VBO and see if that helps.

Also turn HTTP textures off.  That can cause issues with textures rendering.  In V3, you will find HTTP textures in the Develop menu. Uncheck the option.

If it still doesn't fix it, V3 may be too demanding and you may give a try at a TPV viewer. Firestorm is V2 based and should run fine for you. (as a sidenote, I'm using the latest most performing iMac and yet I cannot run V3 without problems. I'm using Firestorm instead)
