I posted a lengthy reply here, but then I re-read what you had written, and decided that my answer could have been better.
So, here goes...

This plot was for sale, meaning that a buyer would only pay me a one-time price of L$6000 and then the monthly tier to Linden Labs, which would come down to US$40 (and then you could still buy about 1900sqm of mainland without having to tier up).
To be able to own mainland, you'd need a premium account - the basic free accounts can't own land on SL.
So, I was looking to actually sell this piece of mainland and I was in a bit of a rush with it at the time... and when my "deadline" wasn't met, I took it off the market again.

But if you're on a basic free account, and/or can't/don't want to pay real-world money for land, maybe we can work something out.
You mentioned wanting to build a house... if you'got some skills relating to building or scripting, I might even have a real interesting proposition for you.
