how do i update my graphics driver so it can launch the second life program?

I downloaded the SL viewer and was using it for about a half an hour.  I then exited the program and when I went to launch again--the error message: "Launch failed,  update graphics driver!" appeared.  I since have been unable to get into Second Life.  I was on the phone with my computer's tech support for an hour and still we could not troubleshoot the problem.  There has to be something that works.

If that doesn't work, I'd try another viewer or eralier version after having completely uninstall that viewer.
