I'm pretty certain you're referring to skinning, not "rig" (rigging).  There's your first lesson.

Some may tell you that you'll get better search results if you use the wrong term "rigging" since everyone is using that term.  But, of course, not everyone is using that term, most are amateurs/hobbyists and may I suggest that you will want to learn from those that adopt a professional work-flow, and its terminology.

Hello John,
Exactly what Bin said, using wrong terms may be useful as most of people doing it , but to find wrong answer is just like not finding the answer at all .
About superior rigging = skinning (which is the right term for what you want to do i suppose).
Just a friendly correction, if you are incline toward more professional creating.

Suggesting that you learn terminology and your tools of trade so you can find correct answer for your questions.
