I've tried google, I've checked the server status, I've searched the answer page and the forums, I've reinstalled, I've let firestorm through my firewall, I've shut off my firewall, I've reset my router, I've rebooted my computer, and I've tried going to different locations and I still can't log in.

I joined last night. Second Life was working fine all day today. When I went to work  I shut my computer down. When I got home, now I can't get passed the logging in screen. I've tried both second life viewer and the firestorm viewer with no results.

I even tried using a friend's login information and it worked juuuuuuust fine, so this problem seems to be unique to my account. It spents five minutes spinning before telling me there was some problem "despite our best efforts."

I was really excited about creating stuff for SL. Why can't I use it now?

You are stuck to "Updating friends list"?

This is a problem that occured to a lot of users since around 17th of Dec. See https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/I-can-t-log-in-to-the-veiwer-but-i-m-able-to-log-in-the-site/td-p/2987631

A lot of tickets and support requests have been submited since then. Try to submit one also, as many so more the chance LL to notice the problem... https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/

Link your support ticket to this https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-11032

Hopefully LL might take notice in the next trimester and till the end of the year might come with a plan to solve it in the next 5 years...

Since you very recently joined - so you haven't worked a lot on your avi nor purchased items yet - I propose to you to make another account... if you really expect LL to solve a bug you might end up in pension before it happens...
