Hello there!

Please read the entire post before replying. So recently I've come up with a great business idea revolving around games in SL. The problem? I'm not much of a scripter. While I understand the fundamentals of programming and, in theory, how scripting works -- I have no idea how to sit down and start scripting. So that's where you come in! Meanwhile, I'm pretty capable in all other fields:

My Skillsets:

  • 3D modeling (Blender, ZBrush, Mudbox, a few others)
  • In-world prim building (To an extent -- I understand the mechanics.)
  • Photoshop / GIMP proficiency
  • Basic - Intermediate Animation
  • Photography and editing for marketing campaigns
  • Marketing skills -- I'll take care of advertising and finding places to market the product, as well as research into keywords and the optimal methods of selling our product for profit in a reasonable manner.
  • People skills... I can handle at least 75% of customer service, if not more, (unless it involves the technicalities of scripting, lol) and I'm very outgoing and polite when it comes to situations like that.
  • Technical writing -- instructions for the game, details, product descriptions for marketing, etc.

A little bit about me:
I'm a 20 year old female, residing in California, USA (PST). I'm a college student... a very broke one at that. ;) I'm interested in fixing that factor. I do have a college schedule to be aware of, but to be honest, I manage my time well and when something is important to me, I become very dedicated. I've been playing Second Life since... oh god, 2006? 2007? Needless to say I'm familiar with the environment.

What I'm Looking For in a Parter:

  • Sophisticated scripting skills --
    - This will be a multiplayer game, so therefore must have abilities to handle that.
    - HUD scripting -- possibly dynamically updating in real time as things happen.
    - When a player sits, it activates this.. etc...
    - Update system - when there's a new version of the game, the users receive a free update
    - Other various game elements
  • Willing to Listen to Me
    - I'm looking for someone who can take what I'm describing and implement it into a script... trial and error will be frequent until we both agree on what works.
  • Reliable schedule
    - If our time zones are radically different, that may be difficult... but I would be willing to work past that if you show me you are reliable and contact me back when I need you, as I would be willing to do the same. Somebody who is constantly able to be contacted is a major plus.. whether through IM, email, texting, or some other form. Hours are totally flexible though, just script when you can (within reason).
  • Willing to Get Personal
    - Sorry, but I'm not looking for somebody who's hiding behind their SL avatar. I'm not asking you to video chat me 24/7 or show me pictures of your kids, BUT I think voice chatting sometimes is a must -- simply because typing all the time is slow and annoying sometimes. If we're going to be business partners, we might be getting a little personal and that has to be somewhat okay. I might have to text you (even if it's just a texting app like Viber or Kik), email you, etc. Don't worry, I'm not the type to constantly harass you unless necessary (lol), and we won't exchange personal information for a while.
  • English as Primary Language
    -  English is my first language, and the only language I can communicate in.
  • Enthusiasm and Dedication
    - I want someone who is as super excited to make this thing as I am! It wouldn't be any fun if you hated every second of it. This is a project that I want to be proud of, and I want you to be proud of it too!
  • Willing to Update the Product After Release
    - This isn't a "script it once, forget about it after" job... I want a partner who will be willing to update the product if we come up with new ideas later, fix bugs and send out fixes, and be willing to talk to customers about technical support issues that I couldn't help with.

The "Catch":

This all sounds like a great time, right? I agree! However, there is a small catch that I think is reasonable. If you agreed to be my partner, I wouldn't be able to PAY you as you work. This isn't a fixed salary job, mainly because I don't have any money to give you. Rather, when we release the final product and we're both receiving a profit, we will split the profits 50/50. If you're able to make a script that handles that as well, that's great. But we'll handle it either way. That's why I'm calling this job a "partnership" rather than an employment... I'm hoping there's someone out there willing to work WITH me, rather than FOR me. A lot of this is trust-based, so I'm looking for somebody trustworthy.

For my own protection, I will most likely have you sign a digital contract online stating that if our partnership doesn't work out, my intellectual property of the idea of the product is my own and you can't sell it... just like I can't sell the scripts that you (hypothetically) have created. This may seem extreme, but these days you can't be too careful! But don't worry, there won't be any tricks in there... just protection stuff!

How To Contact Me if you're Interested:

If this all sounds like something you'd be interested in, you can contact me in one of the following ways:

  • Leave a reply on this thread!
  • IM me in-world (Phoenix Takashi or Hayden Blaise... which ever shows up in search... the latter is my display name.)
  • Email me at: majessticah@gmail.com

If you have detailed questions that involve the product idea or partnership, please either privately IM me or email me, as I will not give out details on the forums and to be honest, I won't be able to give out many details as it is until we've established partnership, as I'm sure you understand.

Contacting me will probably result in an interview where we can ask each other questions.

Thank you so much for reading this huge, long-winded post.. and I hope to hear from you soon!
