Lipsync stops working when I move camera away

Hello! I am having issues where I am shooting a machinima that requires avatar lips to move. When my camera gets too far away, I notice that the lips stop moving! They sometimes get stuck with the lips wide open and it looks weird. When I move my camera back in, it starts moving the lips again. Is there anything I can do about this issue?
