  1. Hello Linden Labs and others. Super Suz here from BURN2, the official regional of Burning Man in Second Life. Check us out at www.burn2.org. (Now taking apps for builders to build for free at Primordial even in July). We are going to collaborate with VR Camp at Burning Man, 2015. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of burners are going to go through our camp and experience VR goggle headsets for the first time. For BURN2 content, we need a stand alone estate/region/sims to take with us on a server so we can showcase some of the amazing builds found at BURN2 in Second Life over the years. We at BURN2 are working on creating an OpenSim set-up that I take with me to VR Camp. But with the scripting being different, I'd rather have a SL stand alone sim with SL scripting and our artist's builds. I'd like to "borrow" it for the week of Burning Man and for about two months before so we can set it up right. I live in Oakland, CA wich makes me close to Linden Labs and am willing to work with anyone who can help, either at Linden Labs or a local OS who can help me hack a Sim on a Stick in OS. Thanks and don't be a creepy person wanting to meet me in real life at your house in private. That's not happening.
  2. SYNOPSIS of Burnal Equinox, the event As we approach the moment when nights and days are of equal length, on the point of a season change, that moment, suspended, is a moment of balance achieved only twice a year. In that brief pause when the flint is struck and flame ignites, just before the inspiration takes form - it is there that every creative spark has this potential and it is what we celebrate at Burnal Equinox. The balance in everything, the moment of change. All sorts of possibilities become apparent, all avenues laid out before, and in that suspended moment is the balance we celebrate. We are one part of this balance, YOU are the other part. Come and walk into the creative space on the playa to share your interpretation of BALANCE. Use your creative energy, whether you bring music, or make it, build a thing of beauty or burn it! Achieve that balance with us! As with music there needs be dance, with community there need be people. We are here but we need YOU here, too. So what can you do? PLAY Bring music and performance, stir up the playa dust a bit! Bring the sounds to entice people to nod their heads, tap their foot, even to stand and dance! Music is said to soothe the savage beast, but it can also have inspiring beats. Show us how - bring your spark of music as a DJ or live performer. Sign up with our self-scheduler here. There's a small information session that you'll need to have between now and the event to help you become acclimatted to BURN2, strea set up and a few other things. After you sign up, we'll contact you in-world to make arrangements. GREET Welcome people who wander in, great them with delight and a sense of good fun. If you enjoy meeting people, come and be a greeter. It's one of the easiest things to do and a great way to meet people and learn what BURN2 is all about. Light that spark with your friendly Burner greetings. CREATE So many possibilities, such potential, lies in a clean piece of playa. You have it within you, now let the dream take form through prim, sculpt and mesh, with texture and colour and motion - create what is not possible in the real world, to express your vision of BALANCE.Sign up and build and create works of art for the joy of it. CREATE MORE Consider becoming a part of the Artcar Preservation Association at BURN2 - create an Art Car to be used at Burnal Equinox and other BURN2 events. Build the art car to theme - come to classes, get a kit, and see what you can create! Contact Larree Quixote inworld via IM or notecard for details. Even as participants, there are no bystanders at BURN2. About BURN2 BURN2 is an extension of the Burning Man festival and community into the world of Second Life. 4. A group of Burning Man enthusiasts are calling out for all virtual reality enthusiast wizards of Second Life to come together and gather at the place of enchantment called Burning Man. We are bringing together the sages, shamans and warlocks of the VR world to come together and literally trip out burners who will come from far and wide to Black Rock City in 2015. Will you join us in our quest to bring amazingly beautiful, totally trippy and (still) mysterious technology to the burner masses? Our kickstarter will be up and running very soon with amazing schwagg! Our camp collaboration is already in the works and we will soon start to build our VR wizard's castle of magic and enchantment so spectacular that you will want to bring back your whole camp to experience it. What an amazing time to be in this wonderful technology. Bring your interactive technology to the playa with us. We will work with you to take your technology to the playa. However, we will not be promoting the name brands behind the technology similar to what you would find in a convention space. We are simply wizards who will be taking technology to a level of interactive play and gift that experience to the burners of Black Rock City. Join us in our quest, auspicious wizard of technology! http://bmanvr.com/ https://www.facebook.com/BurningManVR Resident Miss Suzanne Super Sweet is now seeking residents to work on a Machinima that can be presented on the 20 foot screen we are bringing out to the playa. If we have the bandwidth, then we may even be able to create something live. The BURN2 community, machinima makers, and performers are welcome to send me a notecard expressing their interest in working on a project that we make together and present at real-world Burning Man, 2015.

  7. Today, in my continued search, I found this. http://nakedmesh.blogspot.com/p/mesh-faqs.html and http://www.tdtemplates.com/meshstarterkit/TD%20Templates%20-%20MESH%20Starter%20Kit.pdf
  8. It's not clothing and I suppose that does not matter. So thanks for the suggestion. I am looking for good instructions as suggested by people who know what they are doing or sell stuff with instructions. So any suggestions with specific links would be helpful. In particular, my item is has various textures included in it for the various parts of the surface of a mesh object. Not the entire surface is on one texture. Thanks SS
  9. I bought a full perm item and it had a UV map with a pink hue in the body of the outlined texture map. And now, like a bunch of others before me, the daunting trial and error begins. YOu watch videos and the little differences are left behind. NO video I've watched has this: How do I remove that hue so it does not show up in the texture map for the mesh item? It also has the grid lines and they don't show up. The textures that came with are the Both Targa and PNG versions of UV AO GB I have not figured out what GB stands for but I know it's an Ambient Occlusion and I know that it's the shadowing. Those are white with the shadows and I know to include the AO's as the first layer in the list of layers. It's the UV that has been colored with a pink hue. And when I add a layer of painted color or a texture and create a finished PNG, it shows up with the same pink hue included in what I used to color the surface of the item. Why did the kit come with a pink colored UV? All the instructions I have found have a transparent or black background with no pink hue in the examples that they work with. This may be one of two things going on here. 1. I am not supposed to use that pink hue layer in my photo editing tool in this way. It's used for a specific purpose and I don't include it as a layer in my final finished product. Anyone know what I am supposed to be using it for please let me know. I think I was using the TGA UV in all the choices of templates that I was given by the manufacturer. 2. Oh I include it alright. And I need to make the pink "blank" so it does not show through. It's a case of being so new to photo editing tools that I don't know how to select the inside of that grid map and remove the pink hue. Please state the obvious if you know that's a yes and include the instructions for GIMP or another photo viewer because they are all fairly similar. I learn best by sequences written in order. For example, Step one: Use the whatever tool to get the inside to "select" Step two: click some other buttons called ... use control alt whatever to .... Step three: Don't forget to ... It doesn't work unless you.... Or go with this approach: I don't know what the heck you are talking about but when I texture my full perms, I basically grab the so and so type of texture from the seller and then I basically do the following steps with it/them.... Thanks so much and I hope this helps others. Super N00bie Suz
  10. I'm new to texturing as everyone is at one point. Where is the usual way that folks start with this? They buy a full perm item with a bunch of texturing "layers" that have different .endings to the file and then try to figure out what to do with them. The makers of these items don't want to be teachers and have the expectation that buyers will know or figure out what to do with those texture map items. So I do what everyone else would do. I buy the item and then start trying to self-learn on youtube and the internet. But I swear to you, if you search "full perm instructions" "texture mapping intstructions" and so on, VERY little comes up. So then you are stuck with looking at the full instructions for creating a texture map and hope that some of the instructions include texturing the texture map. I'm so confused! Please add your full perm instruction manuals, videos and help pages here. Whatever you have, help us out. It might even lead someone to buy your product! If you know of any good instructions out there that may not be support for a Second Life full perm item but will be a good place to learn, then please add that. It can be any item. It's the texturing tips and actual sequence of events that has to happen to finish and color a full perm item. I do not suggest that folks ask a particular question about full perm texturing here. Ask that question in other thread and make the subject as concise as possible for the experienced helpers to get what you are asking for and then help you. Again, JUST POST LINKS TO INSTRUCTIONS AND GOOD LESSONS. If you include a notecard with instructions, then you can copy and paste it here if it's not already on the net somewhere. Builders and advanced users, please look through your bookmarks /favorites now and copy and paste the ones that helped you figure out what to do, whatever the photo editing tool was. Thanks Super Suz

  12. Hello SL Folks, Has anyone seen a pre-packaged animation HUD that is modest and demure for a Victorian, woman? I have attempted to make up my own but not quite satisfied. Thank you, Super Suz
