  1. Feel free to rant to me :-) It seems a long hard struggle to get to where I want to be with Mesh but I feel like I am finally making some headway now, I'm much further on this week than I was two weeks ago. We will get there in the end. Feel free to add me if you need a friend :-)
  2. With the information you both provided I managed to finally get my model loaded in world at a land impact of 7 which I am quite happy with. I now have another problem but I'm wondering if its is caused by the way I uploaded. When I uploaded my model all LODS had the same default material, after the upload I then did my texture baking and uploaded them separately and applied to the sofa. Now the problem is when I am close the the sofa all the textures appear fine, however, when I zoom out some of the textures start to turn black. Is this because I haven't assigned my textures to every LOD model in blender? I just get over one hurdle and there is another one now lol. Any advice appreciated
  3. Thanks both, just needed to let of some steam as my old SL friends no longer log in and nobody IRL has the faintest idea what I'm talking about LOL
  4. Many thanks for responding. I will give that a go and see if it works.
  5. This is just a little rant. Many years ago I started playing SL and found a love for creating content. I started building prim furniture and then one day sculpties came along. So I learned blender and began creating furniture from sculpties and selling them in my little furniture store in world. Eventually my business partner and I went our separate ways and we both left SL. For a long time I considered coming back and starting over but I managed to supress my creative urges. Well it happened I came back and here I am trying to learn all over again. So much has changed since my sculptie days and I find myself having to learn how to use the uploader for my Mesh builds. OMFG what a nightmare, am I thick or something, I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall. Sometimes things upload great and look great but my land impact is massive, so I start learning about LODs and making different models for each LOD. Then I try uploading again and I get an error message about bloody materials not be a subset of reference model....ARGHHHHHHHHH! It's never bloody ending, I just hope that one day I can get a workflow going where I manage to create something that looks great and is low LI and I'm happy with. I feel like giving up, I really do, but I'm not going to, I will get there in the end. What I'm finding really hard is the fact everyone on my friends list is grayed out, why? Because they all left. It's hard being a builder and trying to learn all the new things when you've nobody to bounce ideas off or ask for help. I miss the old days building with my friends and getting all giddy about an idea for a new build or project. *sighs* maybe somebody in this forum will take pity on me and be my building buddy? One can dream cant one? Anyway, off I go back to blender and my borked up mesh in the uploader preview window............ Rant over!
  6. Hi Meka I too am a blender user looking to make a similar friend. I'm a returning resident (albiet not as often as I used to). I used to create a lot of content on SL but since returning have not done much. As my friends appear to have all left I find it hard to be motivated and inspired as this is what my other builder friends used to do. I'm looking for somebody to bounce ideas off, share creative ideas and help each other. If you are that person feel free to add me in world. :-)
  7. I'm a fellow returning resident too and could do with some friends, everyone of my friends list appears to have left for good. Feel free to add me :-)
  8. Firstly apologies if this has been asked elsewhere but I've been unable to find a similar problem when searching. I am trying to upload a sofa model, my high LOD preview looks fine as you can see from the screenshot. When I select the file for my Low LOD the preview looks farked, although it looks find in blender. As you can see the plane used for the shadow is stretched and some of my cushions seem to have converted to very straight edged box like shapes. Can somebody explain what I am doing wrong, I'm really confused. Thanks
  9. Hi I hope somebody can help here! I've been trying to find a vendor that I can load couple poses and animations into and sell with but cannot seem to find such a thing in world or on the marketplace. Ideally I would like it to rez the poseballs so that people can try them out and be able to move forward to the next pose just like you do on a pose stand. I've seen that various pose stores are using them but when I look at the creators it tends to be the store owner. I found one that was created by somebody else and IM'ed them to see if they sold it to the public, but it seems that this was not possible or for sale. Have I spotted a niche in the market? I'm no scripter so couldn't do this myself. If you know of where I can purchase such a thing please respond :matte-motes-bashful-cute:
  10. Hi does anybody know of any step by step tutorials that explain exactly how to texture a mesh object in blender and export to secondlife? I have managed to export my mesh model but I am now completely at a loss as to how to go about texturing the model and baking the texture for sl. I used to make sculpties and textures in blender, then bake the textures as an image and upload to SL but using the new version of blender and mesh for the first time, I am now totally stuck. Help needed please? :-)
