can not log in says updating friends list log in failed

i have tried 2 log into my account for the past todays and it keeps saying updating friends list log in failed. how do i fix this or somehow get on my accoutn again?  before this happened i was talking to a friend it showed them offline and they could speak to me but i could not to them.  what doi do?

Had this problem today, support had me uninstall and reinstall the sl viewer

and login on that. I dont normally use the sl viewer, but that worked and 

now i can login on my other viewer also
