A few of you may or may not have run across the Innsmouth sim in the Second Life Destinations Guide.

It is a eerily atmospheric abandoned 1920s/30s New England coastal town, designed after H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth."

Featuring a number of builds slowly being consumed by the dark coastal waters, a lovely decaying downtown area, a wonderful old opera house, a crumbling asylum, and several abandoned industrial buildings, it's a wonderful venue for creepy parties and weddings of a more..interesting variety.
As it is dark and dreary in the most gorgeous ways possible, it lends itself perfectly to photoshoots, and is an absolute PERFECT setting for a number of role plays, whether or not they're Lovecraft-themed or not!

Unfortunately, last fall the sim owner could no longer shoulder the burden of this sim and turned it over to the Innsmouth Preservation Society, a small group which has been attempting to keep the sim running through monthly donations.

More recently, however, financial support has gotten scarce and the sim is once again in danger of disappearing.

For such an amazing Second Life destination, this is an absolute tragedy, but something that's unavoidable if donations can't cover monthly costs.

SO VISIT WHILE YOU CAN!
Take your snapshots! Share them! Spread the word about this place!

I have encountered no other place like Innsmouth on Second Life and it is simply a MUST-SEE!

Please consider dropping in while you can.. and if you're feeling generous, donate a few $L while you are there to preserve this stunning landmark for just a while longer!
