  1. hey everyone, I just installed SL on a second laptop. SL runs just fine on first lappy (albeit slow coz i have a bad graphics card, which is what prompted me to use an older laptop, but the laptop has a MUCH better graphics card that will let me run things on high setting or ultra as opposed to low setting that my current lappy allows).

Anyway, i installed official viewer, plus phoenix, and a few other 3rd party viewers, and all give me same error message after i open it and try to log in: "Unable to connect to the grid. Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong. please check secondlife.com/status to see if there is a known problem with the service."

i can log in just fine from normal laptop. This other laptop for some reason won't let me log in. I'm assuming its a network or firewall issue but not sure how to fix it. I actually tried turning the hardware firewall off and connect but still got same message. I'm VERY not a tech geek when it comes to networking/firewall issues. Other pc stuff i'm great at, networking gets me a bit frazzled where to find everything. I have norton on that pc but its not running for some reason. (won't open, dunno why). I'm running Windows XP (service pack 3) on that pc with a T2600 2.16 GHz processor with 2 GB RAM.The pc may be "old" by all standards, BUT coz of some prior virus/worm damage, nearly EVERY piece of hardware on the laptop was replaced under warranty by Dell and i mean EVERY (gfx card, hard drive, video/sound card, motherboard, monitor, keyboard etc). So I'm truly stumped here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
