  1. Funny I should come across this thread today because I have just been in live concierge chat asking about this very topic! This has just come up for me inworld for the first time in 6 years of being an SL resident. I am about to rent my sim out to someone and they asked if it would be possible to become owner and me become payor, I was quite confused at first so I went to concierge and had a long live chat with them about all the in and outs of the situation just an hour ago.

It is not fishy or risky to do this, what happens is the sim owner files a ticket with LL for them to change the ownership to be the name of the renter (this in NOT the same as full transfer and has NO cost and is completely possible to reverse at any time).

After the change goes through the renter will now appear as owner and can do all the things an owner can do, including uploading raw terrain files and appointing estate managers. The former 'owner', who is now called 'Payor', can no longer interact with the land and make changes, BUT they are still the real owner and can file a ticket to take back full ownership and remove the other person. The way the person in concierge live chat described it the owner who becomes the payor is like a silent partner, they just pay the LL tier bill and can change the situation back to status quo whenever they choose by filing a ticket with no charge. I am not sure if the 'owner' can make changes like moving sim or changing sim name, but the concierge said that 'major changes' can only be done by the Payor - such as conversion, transfer, or cancellation. Therefore, the owner in name can NOT sell the sim, no full transfer can be done, only the payor can do that.

  4. Thank you! A great find that is so helpful, great work around and fast too. I have been using content aware fill to get around it, but I didn't know about the single pixel column and row select tool, so I have been doing it in little sections, this is going to be so much easier, thanks for sharing :matte-motes-big-grin:

  5. I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with customer support, and that you took the time to post about it. I understand that support response varies depending upon the circumstances, and sometimes it seems there is no explicable reason as to why a problem has not been dealt with. However, I think a lot of people get good support response and we just don't hear about it - if you have a problem and are not getting the help you think you should from customer support, then you are likely to post on forums seeking more help, or just to vent, but people don't tend to post when a ticket is dealt with as expected.

It is like the news - you watch the news on TV one day and think 'oh my that was all terrible and depressing, what an awful world!' this is because when bad stuff happens it is reported, no one reports that 'a town in middle England was all quiet today with business as usual'. So likewise on the forums we get a skewed picture of customer support levels.

A month or so ago I had a problem on my sim with a griefer, and to cut a long story short the sim was a bit messed up (ok a lot, and some of it was my fault, but won't go into that :matte-motes-bashful: ) I sent in an abuse report and a Linden was stood on my island within 10 mins, and later I submitted a support ticket to get the sim rolled back, it was rolled about 2 hrs or so later and all was fixed. I have only had to contact support probably less than 10 times in the 4 years I have been here, but only once did I feel dissatisfied with the response. So credit where it is due, sometimes people do have a bad response and lack of support I am sure that is true, but it isn't as bad as it sometimes seems when reading the forums.

  6. Yes there are tons of helpful groups - I am sure others will suggest more but off the bat I would suggest the Builders Brewery, New Citizens Inc and Caledon Oxbridge University Group. The last two have avatar makeover classes and lots of stuff for very new people, and the Builders Brewery runs classes for people new to building. If you can't find them in search look up my profile and double click on them in my groups.

  7. /me waves to fellow Brits~~~

I'm currently living in the US now, so wrong time zone to socialise with most other Brits but I'll join, maybe we can get lots of other expat Brits in and spread over more times zones! I find expats often want to group together even more because we miss home and want to chat with other Brits so that they can remind us how to spell correctly! (it's not aluminum it's aluminium!!) :womanwink:

  8. You don't have to be premium to buy a region from another resident in a private estate if it is not a full transfer, but really you are just renting it. Your name can be as the owner just the same as when you buy a parcel of the island, but really it is just the whole island is your parcel and you can be set as an estate manager by the person who owns it and pays the tier to LL.

If you want to buy an island through full transfer and pay your tier to LL you do have to be premium. Only if you pay your tier to LL do you really own the land, all else is renting from other residents, but at the end of the day we all rent from LL anyway.

  9. Hi, when I take high res pics in world using the shortcut Ctrl ` they look like the pic below when I get them open in PS. Is there anyway to avoid getting these lines? I know the high res shots are X2, and the photo has a vertical line and a horizontal line so I am assuming this is what is causing it, but is there a way to avoid it?

    Suggestions welcome, thanksLines-on-high-res-inworld-pics.png

  10. Hi, I wanted to switch on the allow anyone to Edit Terrain on my land for a few minutes to allow a neighbor to change the border a little between our parcels, however the toggle button is no longer on the Options tab and when I asked in a group help I was told it was removed by LL recently.

So I have invited the person to my group and give her a role that allows edit terrain - the description is: "Members in a Role with this Ability can edit terrain on a group-owned parcel, even if it's turned off in About Land > Options tab."

My question is will this only work on land that is deeded to the group, or will it work on land that is set to the group?

I have always preferred to just own my land by my avater name and never owned land that is deeded because no one except me needs to do anything on the land normally, and the neighbor only needs the permission to edit terrain briefly, so I don't really want to deed the land to group. I can't find any up to date info about this so thanks for any help

  12. I think it would be useful if the advice were a little more comprehensive. All it says is that if it has been more than 24 hours you should ask the merchant, nicely, for a redelivery.

What should people do if they merchant doesn't reply after several attempts to contact, and a week or so has passed by with no reply?

This just happened to me. I am still waiting,:robotsad: and I am not sure if this is something I should raise a support ticket about or not.

  13. Yes I posted this in the feeback forum too, but it is one very long thread and might get missed, the more people post asking for it the more likely it will be seen. There is a community tools office hour today if anyone can go and mention it there:

  14. I'm loving the new forums, but the land for sale section is going to become one mixed up bunch of ads for mainland, private estate land, homesteads all mixed in together.

Very hard for people to find the type of land they are looking for, especially for newer people who don't know there are different types.

Would it be possible to have sub sections in ths Buy and Sell Land section so that ads can be grouped by type? something like the following, or whatever would work:

    Mainland Parcels

    Private Estate Parcels

    Homestead Parcels

    Full Sims

            Mainland

            Private Estate

            Homesteads
