Hmm I have adesk top running a 8 core amd 9590 at 4.7 GHz and a Ausus R9-290 with 4Gb DDR5 and I run on Ultr all the time In SL with no problems just keep your drivers up to date ,, I thnk the biggest issues that would come with a laptop would be Cooling !  I think AMD is always getting a bad rap !

Right now I am useing 8.1 for over a year and its running all viewers for SL with no problems ! I would suggest you make sure all drivers are up to date on your computer,especially your Video card drivers ,,, go to "your video card web site" a get the latest drivers, also always keep your OS (8.1) up to date and any viewer updates ,,, then go from there.

Usually a relog will fix , alot depends on you internet connection and your video card, I have foud tat a relog works for me  there are Lot of varables  like how many users are on Second Life ,how many Avatars Are on the sim your on ,things like that.

Try relog First 

also Reboot your computer

And your modem  then  log back in and see if your fixed

 I think you need a  premium's account to use some sandboxes  There are many sandboxes thrrough out SL youi can do a search for them.

[Can you give a Premium Second Life account as a gift ?]

Hmm i really think LL should rethink this its totally there lose for not allowing this and its a simple matter not to renew the premium account and a gift should not be renewable any way ,, You can tell LL that I would give the gift of one year premium to a friend if they would only allow this ! When I unchecked hardware skinning I could see all the avatar parts . I have a high end AMD video card ( R9 290 4GB GDDR5) SL is famous for not liking AMD but I have always resolved any issues now I can run this card On Ultra with no problems but its a bit of over kill ,

I can't seem to find a way to give the gift of an premium account to friend. I don't want to just give the money to the individual i would like to pay SL/LL and have them issue the account is that possible ?

Ok have Used my alternate in over a year logged him on today and transfered 1000 lindens and LL took out  97 lindens for no known reason ,,,, would really Like to know how they can charge me into a negtive balance , I would consider this stealing from me:smileymad:
