  1. Oz, the problem here for me is that content I've been selling for years is now BROKEN in sl for the most part. I'll have a year of customers complaining about crappy products and redelivering fixed products to them. I can convert the non working formats into .mov files and reconfigure my products inworld. But having this change in sl causes a very big hardship for me and I suspect other video products sold in sl.

ps. just learned the customer who complained videos not working was on an older mac os.

  2. Hi whirly, both of your mp4 andm4v files work just fine. the mystery is why arent the files Ive been using in sl for years NOT working now in both firestorm and sl viewer? I was alerted to this problem by a customer who owns a skybox that uses my video files and no longer works. This is an example of a file that has always worked in sl and no longer works. https://s3.amazonaws.com/skyboxvideo/Foggy+Stream.mp4. heres my system/firestorm info:

  3. just became aware that several video formats no longer work in sl. m4v and mp4 formats no longer work. In my testing, seems like only the .mov format is the only one currently working.  I guess they weren't licensing the decoders properly. who knows . this breaks a lot of content I have had inworld for some time now.

  4. An issue everyone who uses Second Life should feel strongly about.

Here’s a super quick and effective way to support net neutrality.
    1. On a computer or tablet (but not your phone) go to: www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings/express
    2. For "Proceeding") type 17-108.
    3. In comments, say: I support Title 2 oversight of ISPs and I support net neutrality.
*Fill in the form carefully; they've made it less friendly and impossible to fill in by phone, on purpose.
*Don't be silenced. DO IT NOW!
*Copy & Paste and Pass it on.
    Thanks!

  5. Ive been running the new  Mac OS High Sierra in SL and all seems to work just fine. except for one glitch. In logging in an old alt I was required to click acceptance for the TOS. This does NOT work in either the sl viewer or firestorm viewer. So you can't activate your avatar without pushing the accept TOS button ( which doesnt work). A workaround is to log into secondlife.com and click the TOS button there, which works.

  6. If you have to ask where to find inexpensive quality animations you are simply not doing due diligence. If you're serious about your product you should be scouring sl for quality full perm motion capture animations. You should be spending days testing the quality of the animations. If you're serious about beds for example, get ready to spend upwards of $1000 USD for a full array of couple animations. (I know, I've done it.)

  7. Depending on the type of rezzer you use, its possible to script a timed rezzer that gives potential customers a short rez time of your build. Obviously the best approach is to buy a small plot of land, put up a vendor so customers can rez one build at a time. Short of that, I think doing a short video of your build can do wonders for sales. Im working on skyboxes with video domes to provide the scenic view. Its very hard to visualize in a few marketplace pics. Heres a video example I did for the listing to showcase the skybox scenery.   https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/72954412/Mountain%20Retreat%20Skybox.m4v

  8. Using a competitors name is not allowed in your search words because all business names in sl are copyrighted by virtue of their publication. the copyright owner can rightfully dmca your listing and have their name removed.

  9. Your screenshots show me your firefox and safari are both "bad" and your chrome is "probably ok" So you will probably be able to access your SL finances on Chrome, but not for certain. On that website my osx safari and ios phone both read as "improvable" whatever that means. But I assume my up to date version of Safari will not access financial SL information come June 15.

    operating system osx 10.11.4

  10. On the Linden Lab blog they suggest this: " Please check that your browser’s security support is up to date. You can do this simply by visiting https://www.howsmyssl.com/ and checking that it detects TLS 1.2 in the Version section:" on my mac I've done this with the latest versions of Safari, Firefox and Chrome and each fails the test. My safari on iphone also fails as well as Chrome which I just installed to test.  I have asked the lab for further guidance on this issue, otherwise they are heading for a big disaster come June.

  11. Any high end iMac will run sl just fine. If you're on a budget you might consider the smaller 21.5" screen you can get without the retina monitor. I would go for the 16gb memory. The 27" version lets you get into a better AMD Radeon R9 M395X with 4GB video memory which will let you run at maximum settings in sl. However, no matter what puter you use, you'll always have some of the waiting period for stuff to rez. SL has a very very slow bandwidth thru their servers and unless its all cached in your hard drive, you have to download it fresh. good luck and enjoy your mac :)

  12. wonderful project Agiala. be sure to set your green background on bright. also, feels like your avatar appears a bit yellow. you might work with that when you shoot it to sync colors a bit more. but overall a really fun result. congrats. Blaze

  13. Heres what I do. The following is for Macs. Use a green screen set to bright. Record with Quicktime. Assemble video and audio with iMovie. For such an inexpensive editing tool iMovie is amazingly feature rich. Im still weighing the pros and cons of green screen versus playing video behind your avatar in sl. Hope this helps. Blaze

  14. In order to remove the avatars without a background you would need to isolate them with a blue screen filming technique. But then you will need a more professional type video editor capable of dealing with blue screen.

  15. Im still trying to figure a way to sync audio to video. I just stream the background video into sl and project with a screen behind the avatar. Then take a video screen grab. For the Mac, I use snapz pro to capture images.  when you import video into sl its much smoother if you strip out the audio. I use iMovie to edit all the pieces together.
