No, but all you have to do is sit a little farther than the monster can reach. It can't get you then. Some places are safe to stand.

Uh... guys? That's just a player on one of the quests. He is carrying the flare that you have to use to do the quest. He's not a griefer.

I think it's more likely to be a security system that has been set off by some intruder. If you want to be kind, send the owner an IM to ask him to turn it off. Otherwise, submit an AR that identifies the name of the alarm, its owner, and location so that LL can take care of it. Meanwhile, locate the thing with sound beacons enabled and then block it, so that you won't hear it.
