Nobody can explain whatever is going on with your hardware but what you are saying doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

There's no huge difference between 144fps in Firestorm and 144fps in Cyberpunk. If anything Cyberpunk should be making more noise and heat given it tends to max out CPU and GPU in a way that SL could only dream of, you tend to see quite low CPU utilization in SL now.

There's a good argument for limiting framerate in SL though: it's not worth it beyond 60fps, arguably it isn't worth it beyond 30. The simulator itself only works at 55fps, there's basically no time you'd ever feel any benefit from a higher frame rate like in twitch FPS games etc. I'm not even sure animations are made to benefit from high frame rates, it certainly doesn't feel any smoother beyond 60fps so if you had a high refresh monitor you could probably happily set the frame limiter to half its max refresh and not notice.

All a no sense, 21 year old game with PBR add on vs a project already born and built with PBR . Fps of sl simulator are 45 on official second like wiki.

You read my FPS but you don't read I point of the temp as problem, GPU and CPU because is not only the % of the cpu utilizaion to make it hotter but the fact is single thread, when a program is bad optimized the whole system is run hot and your fans spin really fast for save your hardware, this is the case.

This is wrong, why i have to limit the FPS to 60 on Firestorm when i run  over 100 on Cyberpunk 2077 without having the fans screaming and the whole pc hot? And why i can stay with 144 fps with Alchemy vsync or using Black Dragon without any problem, i was not spend 500 dollars monitor and 600 of videocard for stay on 60 FPS.

  3. No one mentioned alternative viewers like Alchemy which work definitively better and less hotter with many features from Black Dragon (also PBR), so if is possible for Alchemy why will not be possible for Firestorm? Maybe cause the beta testers was users looking only at the FPS? (even there Alchemy is better).

Oh yeah, LOL... I meant I haven't tried to see them yet.

I left the opening ceremonies and went to a region with maybe a dozen other users, and my viewer seized up, then my cam started going haywire.  I teleported to a quiet island on the blake, then back to an SL21B region, because I know SL21B is supposed to be full of this PBR stuff.  I was getting crap performance even on a quiet SL21B sim.  15-20FPS.

Also, my lighting looks like garbage.  I'm wearing a flannel over a t-shirt (don't judge me, I grew up in the 90s!).  My flannel is super shiny!  It looks like I can't decide between having a latex fetish or a flannel fetish, so I'm wearing flannel made of latex.

I'm still curious about what happens if I try to see the fancy PBR stuff, so I turn on all the fancy stuff.  My FPS evens out around 12.  My CPU is like 58-60 degrees, my GPU is around 54 degrees.

I'm still wearing latex flannel, though.  That can't be comfortable with everything being this bright.  Gotta lower that stupid 1.0 exposure value before I get sunburn, LOL

So, as far as I can tell, the fancy PBR stuff looks like garbage.  I haven't seen anything that makes it worth the performance loss.  PBR was a dumb idea.

I am still testing this out, but if I had to make a choice right now, I think I'll probably roll back to the last version of firestorm, just because I'd rather see blank textures than lose performance like this.

Nice! but you have shadow on, you can gain a lot more of FPS without them on but your temps will raise too ;)

Update:  After I whitelisted SL again, the slow loading texture issue resolved.  I had to remove the old whitelisting settings and replace them, even though they look the same to me, because bit defender sees a new install as a new program.

I'm at the SL21B opening ceremony now, and I'm getting like 10 FPS, which is expected.  I turned off mirrors and am running with low graphics settings.  I'm not overheating at all.  My CPU and GPU temps aren't hitting 60.

So it's not that bad for me, so far.  I haven't seen a mirror yet, though.

You have Mirror turned off, you won't see any :)

  6. The problem isn't the FPS, but the high temperatures the software is causing. I use both Alchemy and Black Dragon, and my AMD 7700X processor (which is not old at all) runs 15 degrees hotter than usual. Even with my GPU AMD 7800xt fans sounding like an airplane, the temperatures are still high, and this is happening at the same FPS I get with Alchemy. This points to a  bad optimization. This update is making my hardware run hotter than ever before, and I've never had these issues with AAA games in QHD resolution 144FPS. I had to roll back to the previous version to protect my hardware.
