    What I find scaring, is that a handful of companies (Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter) have access to an awful lot of detailed information about almost every bodies personal life, Internet and consumer behavior. And I think they know far more than we expect them to know.
    Their algorithms can most likely calculate how your new car will exactly look (color.price range, brand, options) before you even think about replacing your current one.

    it even goes further;

    they know you better than yourself, since they dont have to battle your ego

    *imo: there should be a law for deleting all data not explicitly saved by the user

    Also mis-information / fake news knowingly spread by facebook has affected elections all over the world, even started civil wars (lets not forget pizzagate / Qanon)

    Zuckerberg and cohorts are IMO pure Evil

    The Lab used to provide the number of signups via an API. So anyone could see how many signed up from the last time they checked until a current check. That API stopped working in December 2020 as the Lab moved SL to the cloud. While it was working I was tracking signups per month. Through 2019 and 2020 the average was about 307,000/mo.

    ...

    atm: It is working (again)

    * count over last month is nearly 200k "new" signups

    It was definitely my ISP doing something on their end. I copied everything over to a cheap web server and immediately solved the problem.

    What I'll have to do is switch one of my ISPs over to business class, probably.

    (if you didnt close any ports, or deny rights trough your .htaccess?)  I think the problem was/is read permissions, not your isp

    using a regular web-browser to just see if I can access it regularly, after convincing my browser I really don't care that you have a self-signed cert, I get

    (error 403)

    because of this, i was thinking you didnt have read rights on your "sl" folder or a maybe a bad .htaccess ?

    but since the 403 has been solved , i also think your problem is solved?

  5. its been a while since i last scripted, and this simple little thing is driving me crazy

    Quote

      if ((integer)msg) { integer min = -2147483648; integer max = 2147483647; integer input = (integer)msg;
                                             if (((integer)msg > min & (integer)msg < max) & (string)input == (string)msg) {   llOwnerSay("New Channel: "+(string)msg);  }

    If the user enters a number outside the scope,  the input will result in;  -1 ,  although this works,  i wonder if there isn't a better/cleaner option ?

  6. No, i went basic (believing i had cleared my parcel)

    about the inventory, i know it might have disappeared, but my main script is in a box in the store so that one should have survived

    Also i wont get it back, i think im on low priority or blacklist with support right now, Raine has been very patient, im sure he follows policy

    as far i remember i gave as much info as possible, not the old sign up email, because those wil not work/didn't remember.
    If you remember, some friends, paypal name, cc numbers, secret question.
    My experience is that they were fast and without additional questions.
    It cán be.. that they are more carefull because there's a active store involved?...

    There is an active store involved, my land hasnt been payed for but also not cleared since 2012 (as many other parcels in secondlife)

    gave them my paypal, same as this account, gave them last numbers of my cc

    offered them transaction details from my store (downloaded from my account 2007)

    i know and still own textures from my inventory, i asked them for a hash-check, ignored

    *next round ill tell them about a unique object i never sold or displayed, and if that doesnt work im out of luck

    I am always puzzled how people cannot know the answer to their security question? Just give an honest answer when you set it up and it should be something you never forget?

    Some people choose one of the "favorite" questions and that is definitely something that might be forgotten over time, primarily because it can change so easily.  People don't often think of that when choosing their question.

    Even something like a pet's name can change over a decade or so, yet people don't consider that either when picking their question.

    Granted, things like "What is your mother's maiden name" and "What city were your born in", should definitely be things people should be able to remember - if they answered honestly.

    Yes you can forget them, for this account i hopefully remember, but my main reason for obfuscating is that these security questions are a weak solution and can be easily socially engineered

  8. you probably had the answer to your security question?

    seems they want that mail and nothing else, trying to figure out why they cant use my payment info?

    edit: just realized they probably had to delete my pay-info because of new privacy laws?

  9. I started secondlife as "Salvador Nakamura", i thought i left somewhere 2010 but it might have been 2012, anyway im having trouble with support proving i'm the original owner since the email address is not what i expected it to be. (using the "i forgot my email" didn't work)

    I've still got the same payment info, personal knowledge of my script contents and even a few textures i uploaded that should return unique hashes

    at first i thought it was stolen, since my shop was still there and i couldn't find myself in search, now i think llabs might have "suspended" my account without removing my stuff from the world

    Support seems to have defaulted into "put in a ticket with registered email" despite it being clear that's not possible

    I stand to loose many many textures + builds and worst of all my scripts and those scripts took a whole lot of effort

    I also re-registered the domain sl-index.com, which is linked to my profile and most of my stuff, without my original account i think ill have to start at zero with a new brand and new scripts, not sure thats something i want to do

    I'm desperate, anyone have a suggestion what more i could do to retrieve my account ?
