Hi Cromey, and welcome to Second Life. Check your Maturity settings in Me>Preferences>General tab. Change them to G,M,A (if you are 18 or older). In addition, some land owners limit access to their places (especially Adult ones) until you've been in SL 30 days, to cut down on people who make new accounts for troublemaking. Or, some owners only allow members on an access list, or members of a certain group, to visit their land.

"Home" has two meanings in SL. If you rent or own land and have a house there, that's a home. But you can also set a Home location. This is useful because you can set your viewer so you always log in at this location, and you can teleport there with a single mouse click or CTRL+H. You can set a Home location on land you own, land that belongs to a group you are in, or public land owned by Linden Lab. To do so, stand on any land where you have this privilege, and go to World>Set Home to Here. If it won't let you, then the land you're on doesn't fall into one of the categories I mentioned, or you need to activate the proper group.

If you have not yet deliberately set a Home location, the Teleport Home function will drop you onto a random LL infohub. Many of these are Adult rated, which may be why you are having problems. See my first paragraph above.

If you visit Caledon Oxbridge University and join their student group (free!) you can set your Home position to the Rose Garden in the middle of the campus.

Thank you for this. I would really like to buy or rent land and build a home. Is this available to me with being so new. I've been through the tutorial and I'm a bit stuck on what to do and how to really get into the game

  2. Hi guys,

I'm super new and I'm struggling with teleporting. When I try to teleport anywhere (including Home via the button) it says I don't have access to the destination?
