In this forum copy/paste works... On Windows you can use the Snipping Tool or Snip & Sketch to capture a screen shot. Another alternative is to use Gyazo.

Since you are new, we are assuming you are using the Linden SL Viewer, the default. But there are several popular viewers. So, it is always a good idea to state which viewer you are  using when asking for tech help.

A general fix for a dark world is to click World in the top menu. Find Environment and select Noon.

I suggest you explore the environment settings. You will often need to change them.

Now if only we learned how to reply to the correct person.....

Is there a simple applier that will help me add a personalized tattoo, made in Photoshop. to ANY mesh avatar ( not the basic SL ones)? Thx for your input.

So there are two forms of tattoos, appliers and bom, non bom converts will still be running appliers and bom won't work for them.  Bom converts can run appliers but good luck getting them to want to lol.  I would make the tattoo bom at this point as it will be more common and more compatible with more people.  Also easier to do.

I feel for ya, I do, no question.

I did get the free body to test and check out possibilities.  I asked a few questions and got pretty detailed (=no time wasted I can move forward) answers pretty quick.

I cannot recall with great detail, but was the "free" body ever advertised as a "demo" for the new Legacy body itself?  I may be wrong, but it looked like there was a separate Legacy "demo" body?  I haven't been back and am running out of time today even to check again, but if there is both a free body and a Legacy newer-body-demo, then it might be a loss to go straight to judging the Legacy body as well.  I suppose at the time I saw free as giving new avis a chance to have *any* upgrade to the System avatar and let them get a taste of at least a step in the right direction.  I kind of left my testing of the free body with the feeling a generous seller shared an older free version with no benefit to the seller.  Knowing there are a lot of things over the years from MP (my primary purchase vehicle) that have just been pulled, disappeared, and sellers no longer offER them (or their redeliveries), when I see someone offering an older version now free, I am generally impressed.  Given they don't have to.  But I certainly understand the frustration, the naming, and the time lost on figuring stuff out.  I remember those days and I sure don't want them back.

The free body is the old TMP body, that used to run for 5k, then they released the Legacy body which is basically their 2.0 version.  Problem is naming conventions (TMP, Legacy) and clothing fits and finding clothing.  I mean I search for Legacy and get crap, and demoing them its just as bad if not worse, I find 99% of the clothing that is advertised for "Legacy" doesnt fit right or not even close, and even Alpha doesnt fix it or you have empty holes because the fabric isnt lining up.  Bad designs over all.  And dont get me started on the hud, its laggy.  Relies on some offsite stuff and things like having to rotate the body to alpha the backside, sometimes can take forever and a day or just dont happen at all.

LittleMe is right. These problems come and go.

That you are suddenly seeing them does indicate a problem. The trick is identifying the problem's cause. Is it your computer, viewer, modem-gateway, connection, ISP, or the Linden side of things. Until you can identify the cause, there is little to be done to resolve it.

Assuming because your computer worked yesterday that it must be something on the Linden side is naive. While you may not have initiated any change the computer and various systems along the way to SL are automatically updating.

Just as a fever is a symptom of numerous illnesses so too are these problems a symptom of many different causes. Until a doctor determines the cause of a fever the best they can do is treat the symptom... so aspirin or Tylenol. Anti-biotics or anti-virials can't be used until the doctor knows the cause of the fever.

Watch the Grid Status reports and ask as you did here in the forum BEFORE you start ripping your computer apart or flushing the viewer's cache. Make sure you have a reasonable expectation of what the problem cause is before taking action. Stick with testing. Trial and error is time consuming.

I have multiple viewers installed. When I see a problem the first thing I do is see if multiple viewers or just one has the problem. If I see the problem on multiple viewers, I try another computer, my laptop, which is usually a few updates behind as I seldom use it.

When all viewers and computers have the problem then I know it is NOT a viewer or computer issue so I test my connection. See how here: Troubleshoot Your #SL Connection

If this testing shows it is on the Linden side then it is time for a trouble ticket or bug report. I can add all the information I have eliminating viewers and computers and showing my connection to SL is good. This gives the Lindens some idea of what is NOT the problem narrowing what they have to look at.

When you find it is likely on your side or the ISP's side we can offer help chasing down what is wrong. Include your computers and the viewer's details. Use the Viewer's HELP->About... to gather that data.

So if I log in with my alt on the same firestorm viewer on the same pc. Which is by no means old, it's a custom rig I built in January.  and see the same issue that my friend did, then relog my normal avi, and suddenly it works again, where should I start looking.  I will post my about in a few, it won't help much as my hardware is not old and I'm running current firestorm with eep.  My internet is pretty reliable, it either works or it doesn't, and I pull around 500/30 on the connection side of things on speed tests, I'm hardwired.

  7. What's with all the new issues, you might look normal to your self but then a friend will be like, why are your hands and feet huge or why is your head missing all of a sudden. And relogging is the only fix, even refreshing attachments doesn't work.  Did not have this problem until recently.  And have not changed anything more than my clothing like I do every day.  Same everything else. And looks fine on my end.  Even alpha layers are just getting messed up bad.

  8. Being a owner of a legacy body and having to deal with these two different naming conventions, I will tell you now it made me really sour with the brand.  I bought it thinking it was a step up from a maitreya body, and wow was I wrong.  I have since shelved the legacy and went back to my maitreya because of all these branding issues make finding clothing hard to do.  The body looks amazing but I cannot walk around naked all day and very few outfits fit well. Shopping was a true hassle just trying to find stuff that fit. Even using the deformers made things hard.

Main av, building & script/perms testing alt, store inventory alt (easiest/neatest to have one for each store inventory if you have several brands - so I hear), then at least one account designated as a bot to play with automated things (mine will also be store/demo model, I think once I make a non-detailed body skin for her and figure out how to let people change her layers and dress and redress her without stripping her! ), then one anon alt that has no responsibilities whatsoever who can run about wildly. That’s at least 5 already, lol.

Collar with a locking core, no rlv relay and your good to go.  You can even lock underwear on to keep her legal in g Sims at that point.  And the collar is hideable,

Here he is. Still working on getting the right hair ... the demo I tested on a Genus head and loved I because it was slicked down and flat (from i.mesh). Didn't notice there isn't the same styling available on the LeLutka head I grabbed yesterday, so off to find better, more slicked down hair.

PS. Whoever mentioned the AO place called Body Language? I love you! My wallet, however, hates you. In addition to buying my male AO there, I found a female AO I may replace Erika (Vista) with.

Yea after reading this I went to body language also, their AO's are smooth.  I dont care for the ones where they lift feet or hop around but I found one that did what I wanted.  Price is as expected for a good moving ao.  And the Interface isnt intrusive, its using the standard zao hud.

My system is almost the same as yours except I have more than one "base" (same body and head but different skins, and whatever tattoo layers/mods go with them), so I don't want the base locked with a collar.

I don't include hair in either the base or the clothing outfits, because I change it so often. Though right now I've been sticking to the one style (Katy from Doux).

That's just it though you can select the other base to wear and lock it, so it won't unwear it. From the collar.  I have a cat avi also that I did but have not used in a bit, I could keep it in the collar as a base and it would become a default if I lock it on. I could choose either one then.

The hair I get, but I don't change mine too often, maybe once a week. And it's not difficult to do, I just unlock the core, swap the hair then relock. And it's done.

  12. So the outfits/appearance is the Bain of it all. It sucks.  I kind of did things different. I utilize a few things.

    1. A open collar to lock the core.  So that it cannot be stripped.   I then make this the base out outfit named !Base.

You can do the same thing using a peanut collar, and it's easier, both can use locking bases, also both collars can be hidden, no reason to have them shared and you can turn off the relays.  They are a tool, use them as such.

    2. Every outfit I create and save, I go back into the outfit folder and delete the body parts it saves links to out of it, they are not needed at this point.  Because the collar won't allow them to be stripped, they won't have to load over and over, so I won't have to change every outfit if I change a body part.   So the outfit is just that, the actual clothing.

    3. When I want to change the base body say a new skin.  I unlock the core, change the skin, change the !Base outfit and lock the core.  That's it. I'm not messing with my 87 other outfits.

  13. So there we were have a conversation this morning fixing our wardrobes at 5AM.  First a santa with a ***** drops into the house.  Ok, so we ask him to fix himself at the bare minimum so He leaves.  Then we get another guy who's completely alpha"d out standing in the living room making lewd comments.  Like we could not see his name tag.

Gotta love the pervs.  We would lock the house down but then all our friends cant bring their friends over either.
