    This ^^^ is normal :)

PS......in fact I reckon there's some biological rewiring going on somehow......maybe it's familiarity. I dunno, but on my alts, I work very hard to get the ultimate look.....in my own eyes obviously. Then after a few days...…...I find it just doesn't give me that initial buzz, so I rework things very gently, and so it repeats.

I wonder if this is why super attractive people in RL never seem to appreciate what they have, and some still go under the knife to "improve"...….

Actually i think you have a point there, i never thought of that. Would explain a lot.

I am constantly in awe of other peoples avatars and tweaking my own.  I make adjustments all the time and complete re-works at least twice a year.  I get what I think is perfect but in just a few days I see all the glaring "Whisky Tango Foxtrot was I thinking" parts and start all over.  Right now what is bothering me is my hideously shaped butt.  It bulges in all the wrong places and when I try to fix it, it becomes a flat and shapeless block.

Sometimes you just got to take a break and quit staring at the problem so you can see what you need to do with fresh eyes later.

OMG this is so true. For A few days after a makeover I feel great then I stare at it a little more.... then a bit more.... then ughhhhhhhh loooooool

I think you might be over optimistic, half the world struggles every day to just find water/food and has no time to think about us privileged people in the west. I've been to over 100 countries that's over half the world, speaking from experience.

    Understood.

If you say so. maybe visit Americas great ally & bff, according to our government 'Saudi Arabia' ....I'm sure they would have some kind of parade for you.

Never said everyone supports it, I said majority. I strongly believe there's a larger amount of people in the world who now support than those who are against. I could possibly be wrong.

  5. OMG! Am I the only person who's been on second life for quite some time and still can not get their avatar appearance right? No matter how many make overs, no matter how many skins I buy i just can't get it to look.... idk? It really plays on my mind too when I meet other people who's avatars are just awesome!!!! it's like Okay forget it i'll just be invisible. *turns on invisible avatar*

Also my avatar is six years old but i only started using it three years ago but i've been struggling to get it right ever since.

Is this only me? I'd hope not.

Given how diverse LL is and how supportive they have always been to things like Pride celebrations, I have a very hard time believing they would discriminate due to something like ethic background.

Let me just say that majority of the world supports gay pride now but  some people still have a problem accepting other races. Not saying that's the case with Linden labs though. Just thought i'd comment on that piece.

  7. Hey guys!

Linden labs should have kept the return of last names under wraps until they've confirmed everything from their side. Made sure everything was ready system wise. Then tell us that it's coming with the definite due date. NOT! mention something then can't actually do it in the time given.

    That's just my opinion though.

  8. I've been patiently waiting on the return of last names. I've been excited about not only finally getting a last name but also  just getting to change my name on the whole. Actually never thought it would've been this difficult, something crossed my mind. Hopefully they allow people to change their names even if they do not want the first and last name, maybe just get a new user name.

First off let me say that nerfing basic is not going to be a good idea.  Ever.

I am already premium but what I would like to see as a perk ...

    • More L$ stipend is not that important unless it goes WAY up.
    • An SL email address might be cool.
    • IM portal for offline communication.  Maybe couple that with the address above.
    • I know this is never going to happen but a way to tie multiple accounts into one super account. We would log in and then pick our character like most MMO's.  One log in at a time.  All characters are premium.  Maybe even a shared folder in inventory.
    • Personal music streams that would override the land settings.  Take your tunes with you.  I know you can do that with virtually any web browser now but why not set it for your character instead?
    • How about a monthly Premium Member Newsletter?  What's in the works, status of the project viewers, upcoming major events, and maybe a personal letter from a Linden of the month.  "Hi, I'm Don'tBlameMe Linden.  I have spent 3 days stomping out a bug in group chat and it's driving me nuts!"
    • And finally ... multiple partners.  Maybe family names.  Or -- dare I even mention it -- guilds (groups with no ownership tags).

    Love that newsletter idea alot.

Thank you all. So it is mainly all in sl. She does know him rl and personal information. He has her blocked on anything they used to communicate including his cell. I just got back from a year break on sl and he just recently joined a new mc in sl. Right now we are living in seperate states and use sl for time together until my move.

Take a break from the main account. Don't delete it but just hop in an alt and lay low til everything blows over. Don't even tell the "friends" what the alt name is because she may get them to side with in and end up with the new information.

    ^ So much this!

Whether it's my old lady eyes or ADHD brain I cannot comprehend half of what those fancy weird dyslexic-looking letters in display names even say, so while people think they're being cool and unique really they're just making themselves appear nameless to folks like me who have no other option than to call them by their username, whether they go mental at me for it or not.

I came about after the surnames had been done away with so was lumped with the generic Resident. As for how my username came to be; Raeleeh is a shortened abbreviation of my real life names. Makes it easier to remember (since most days I know who I am, though ADHD brain, remember?) but is also not exactly my name so if I get stalked, harassed, trolled, griefed, made to jump through fiery hoops, sent random death threats (with those fancy weird dyslexic-looking letters), or anything else horrific then it's not likely to bleed out of SL and into my RL.

When I did role play (which feels like lifetimes ago now) I frequently changed my display name to suit my character at-that-time, but Rae's usually the predominant one I go by.

As for the project to change our surnames; Ideally I wish we could choose our own (especially for the proposed fee planned with it), but also understand that it won't happen as there's always someone out there looking to ruin it for the rest of us. Beyond that, I'd probably choose something I thought was funny at the time and get AR'd for offending someone accidentally, such is my low-brow sense of humour.

I tend to look at those accounts with surnames as "old timers"; not as old people per se, but the generation that came before. Those who lived through pre-mesh and bling and flexi and painted on pink polka dot dresses, and still managed to stick it out to this day. It's like a badge of honour I suppose. Maybe I'm just too nostalgic about it. Some of my best friends are "old timers", and they're the ones I go to when I have a SL related issue or forget how to do something after another 3 months sabbatical.

I agree with this entire post especially the part about the generation before us with the last names I literally call them the originals lol so guess I'm nostalgic with you.

  12. Hey there so, I've been on second life for a few years now and I still don't get it. Everyone has these awesome stories and views on the game and I am like the one person who just sits there blank like "I don't get it.." Let me explain.

I want to be apart of the Second Life community but I am not sure where I belong or how to make the experience great for me. Most people came here in search of something but for me all I know is that this 3D World is pretty cool and I want to be apart of it, I want to experience all it has to offer but I am completely lost as it relates to which direction to go, what to do, what is my thing?

Has anyone else ever experienced that or is it just me going through it? As a result I was just logging in, shopping on marketplace then logging off. Emptied my profile not to long ago and cleaned my inventory to take a break hoping maybe an idea comes to me. Just thought I'd share on the forum as well since I've never actually used this platform.

Any tips or advice would be great.
