Second Life and all of its websites were working fine....until Linden Labs did maintenance.
I have always wondered how LL always seems to make things worse almost every time they perform maintenance. After 18 years, you would think they had this resolved and were able to perform a much smoother maintenance experience. Now they have to do another maintenance to fix the first maintenance which is quite common and just sad. This is the norm when it shouldn't be.
Thanks for coming to my mini Ted Talk.
They're human beings, and they make mistakes. /thread

Are you ok?

Out of curiosity, what do you have your EPP environment set to? I've encountered some wonkiness (especially with a popular third-party viewer often used for screenshots) that occasionally causes odd, dark shadows.

Many of us spend a significant amount of time and money customizing our avatars, and another thread has me wondering. Good or bad, how many of you all receive comments on your avatar? I often receive feedback on my height (6'2') and that I need to be taller. I politely disagree with them ;).

And it would also be a nexus for trolling/spamming/lagging/crashing on a scale 1000x bigger than infohubs and LL isn't going to moderate it.
Member the days of voice enabled welcome centers? I do, and I don't want to.

Regardless of quality, gachas exist because they're hugely profitable. Regulation often fosters innovation, and if whatever replaces it is also successful, the cycle will repeat. For better or worse, that's capitalism.
I don't agree with the idea of gating and employing gambling mechanics to sell products, and I'm glad they're banned.

Oh great, now you can buy new watches! Shopping is fun! 😻
Disclaimer: I do not own the watch, but all my jewelry from this store is low complexity.

I like the way you think 😄

Technical and QoL issues aside, I think SL's greatest asset is its outlier status. There's very literally nothing else quite like it. I wish him the best of luck.

I prefer my bits to follow me in and jiggle long after I arrive.

As a joke, last week I changed my display name to T̶O̶M̶ ̶F̶R̶O̶M̶ ̶M̶Y̶S̶P̶A̶C̶E̶. The strikethrough was centered through the text and resulted in me being called a number of hilarious things (Fern, Torn, Porn, etc). I had to live with it for a week. Few people got the joke and even fewer used my name.
No more Unicode for this guy.
Fern was my fav, tho.

Thanks but I think I'll skip the add-ons. I just want to be a bit bigger not actually LOOK like I gained weight. I have enough cellulite and stretch marks in RL. LOL
Fair enough! Best of luck.

My avatar is 6'2 in game, realistically proportioned, and looks like a midget among men (and women). I receive multiple IM's per week from residents inquiring about my height, or even the length of my arms. It's disheartening at times.

To add the affect of looking bigger without moving sliders I added cellulite and chubby tummy layers ... gives a little texture to the ultra smooth skin look.
If you dont want to do that. I'd add body fat as suggested above. I think my avi sits on 10.
In my opinion, this is the way. Adding body fat and thickness is only a part of the equation. Back rolls, cellulite, stretch marks, veins, and a number of other things can help give the appearance of adding natural weight.

I put on an older, scripted watch the other day and immediately took it off after Firestorm scolded me (it added 60K complexity to my avatar). Shame. I prefer watches over "other" attachments.

I'm more than happy with SL being it's own Independent "thing". For better or worse, its always kind of been that way. Its general ethos has not changed, and that's part of what makes it special.

Imagine going to Wal-Mart and spending $10 bucks for a pair of shoes. They hurt your feet, your back, and fall apart a month later. You return the following month and spend another $10. Why? Maybe it's all you can afford.
Gacha or otherwise, markets exist for low-cost, low-quality products. As long as there's a demand, they will continue to exist.- 1

selling low quailty merchandise is not the sole province of gacha creators. People make low, middling and high quality products, no matter the sales method
Agreed.
In a free market, proprietors of low-quality merch won't always stay in business.

I like my gachas done rare please.

Make quality shizz. Put a fair price tag on it. Sell item. Anything else is just a ploy to foist off low quality merch on people with poor impulse control.
Gacha! That's capitalism.

Oh I didn’t know that. How on firestorm??
Open your profile, double click on the group, locate the box that says "show in my profile" and uncheck it.
With that said, there's no easy solution for your problem, especially if that person is tightly connected with your social circles. I can say, though, that people tend to move on very quickly. Things feel stressful and difficult now, but I promise, they will settle down.
