[Second Life crashes @ Initializing VFS (NOT AppData issue)]

Same problem, still no fix i see? Im getting really irritated. Ive wanted to play this  for a while now. Submitting a ticket does nothing, i never get a reply. Guess LL is just overlooking this little issue.

My laptops sound card is probably fried, so it has no sound. Do any of the viewers still run without a sound card installed?
