  1. Hello!

I'm not able to speak in 2nd life. When I go to the Sound and Media settings in Preferences and click on the Voice Input/Output it doesn't detect my voice (there are no green lights). I've tried different machines and also a headset but for some reason the avatar cannot detect my sound.

    Pls can you help me?

    Thank you very much!

In my tests the best audio has come from third party add-ins. I am using Flashback Express -- free but somewhat limited if you don't also have video post production software. You can also opt to get the premium version of the product (I didn't need it but I don't think it is terribly expensive.  Recordings from the viewer are typically not as clear -- at least to my ear. I can even strip the audio from the clips or sometimes just record a boring blank screen in order to GET that audio.   So it really depends on how you plan to work and what your end product is.

I will say that the audio from Flashback (note that it only does 10fps so not good for capturing movement or cams but does fine just with talking heads shots or other simple inworld video).

    Here is an example:

Thanks Chic, actually I'm referring to the visual quality, I will overlay the sound on top of the video.

depends totally on your machine... if you give some more info about the graphics card and pc specs the video makers here can point you on some details perhaps.

Thanks. It's a Mac OS Sierra, retina 13inch. Graphics: Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

  4. Hello there,

Has anyone had any experience with the speak button on Second Life for a specific avatar not working. The speak button is conitnually greyed out no matter which computer i log in with.

    Many thanks

  5. Thank you for this answer Charles :)

    I

t is new that this be the case, and it is across the board.

However it was true that the FPS shot up when I lowered my graphics to medium quality.

    So that's good to know.

I would ideally like to use a much higher graphic setting and am interested in the comment you made:

Aside from lowering your graphics setting and bringing your distance down you might think about trying a third party viewer based on the old 1.23 code -- just to see if that helps. Phoenix, Singularity -- I think Imprudence is still around etc.

    Could you elaborate further?

    Best wishes

    Esther

    Hello,

My FPS is around 3 currently. This seems very strange to me.

Do you have any further suggestions or special tricks that can be performed to get a better FPS. I have already cleared my hard drive and SL cache.

I have a MAc Book Pro mid 2009

Processor  2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB

Connection Ping 19, Downlaod Speed 19.05, Upload Speed 1.05

    Many thanks

    Esther
