Pelvis is normal. Stomach is rarer but still possible!

And the flipping when attaching to a new point can be beaten by rotating the entire object in Edit =]

If you're looking for a better fit, try shorter skirts or mesh!

I've heard of mesh but what happens if other users don't have a mesh enabled viewer, how would it look.

If the skirt is sculpted and high waisted it should attach to the right or left pec.

    Oh, another two options :matte-motes-asleep-2:

It is fairly high waisted, flowing style about knee length.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

  3. A few weeks back I posted a question about a problem I had editing a prim skirt. I had accidentally messed up the size and one thing led to another and eventually it was not wearable.

Well, following some good tips I used a pose stand and it is almost right BUT, when I start to walk to fit looks poor.

Where would the normal body position be for a skirt, pelvis, stomach, right or left hip.

I can't just substitute positions as the skirt itself then goes upside down :(

If I'm not mistaken, you still have the option of choosing three layouts in Firestorm - Phoenix, Hybrid, and V2. I haven't tried the Phoenix layout, so I don't know if it actually looks like Phoenix, but it might be worth a try if the main thing you dislike about Firestorm is the layout.

That's a good idea and I will try it at next login, I tried hybrid but was new to Firestorm so didn't really notice a difference.

    Thanks for suggestion.

  5. Thank you for all the helpful replies. Sorry for the typo in my original message, line 2 should have said Then I found Firestorm and Phoenix.

I do find the extra clothing layers allowed in Firestorm useful, I tend to favour Phoenix for the layout but Firestorm for the extra features.

What happens if you have extra layers worn in Firestorm and then switch to Phoenix.

  6. I'm fairly new to  SL, initially used the Linden Labs viewer but after an update kept giving me error messages when trying to log in.

    The found Phoenix and Firestorm.

What are the prose and cons of each or other viewers, I have heard that some are MESH but I am not quite sure if this is an advantage or not.

    What are other users views..

Thanks for suggestion, they were very helpful but strangely a resend again did not work so LL arranged to be online at the same time as me and then it was successful  :womanhappy:

Is this done via web or do I have to login to SL, I am on marketplace now and cannot find where to open a support ticket :(

  9. How does one go about querying a purchase I made from marketplace that has not been received.

My account says it has been delivered, I have an email saying login to get it but I cannot find the file name anywhere.

I have, on the inventory window entered the first few letters of the supposed file name and nothing shows up :matte-motes-crying:

It was on offer via the web page and over double the price instore, mind you, as it stands it is now MUCH DEARER.

What do I do now, I have tried to IM the owner but as she is not in my list it just asks for friendship.

I've been with SL for about 6 weeks now, I've aquired some nice outfits, some free and some purchased but now I'd like to get more specific items but have great difficulty finding items which show up in a search and after I TP to the store.

I'm trying to find a denim skirt and some decent tops, can't seem to find the skirt and all the tops appear to be part of an outfit.

Or is it very much like real life and one often has to wander aimlessly trying to find something one likes :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:

Oh yes, I've wondered aimlessly in quite a few inworld stores, and it is my least favorite thing to do, also.  Marketplace is right here on this main website page.  Just point your cursor to shopping (not community) and you will find Marketplace.  And yes, you can just type in demin skirt in the Marketplace search bar and there are lots to chose from.  Also, click open 'see all categories' and a pricing menu will appear.  You can narrow your search in all kinds of ways on Marketplace including how many prims you might be looking for, for an example.

Thanks, I haven't knowing used Marketplace and an intended option but have ended up there by accident.

I'll give that a try out as soon as I finish these message, GO SHOPPING :matte-motes-oh-rly:

To find good shops that don't do the marketplace, check people out.  When you see someone that is dressed how you like, check their profile to see if they have shops shown in it.  You can also IM them and tell they you like what they are wearing and ask them for recommendations.  Most people gladly will share that information if approached the right way. Another way is to click a prim part of clothing you like and 'inspect' it to find out who made it.  You can then click through to their profile from the inspection box and most times find their shop in their profile picks with a handy tp right to it.

Didn't think of the profile tip, thanks, I'll try that.

When you say 'click on the prim of the clothing I like' I assume you are suggesting I click on the other persons clothing, does that not effect them if I do that.

If you're in the UK I strongly recommend
as the internet provider of choice for SL residents. No caps, no bandwidth limits, no fair use policy so you can spend as long as you want in SL creating as much stuff as you want or tootling around to your hearts' content without a care in the [Real] world.

Thanks, I am in UK and will certainly look in to this one.

Thanks Ceka, being new to SL and having a few initial problems I was clearing the cache quite regularly so next month I'll be more careful.

These folders hold the 'bridge' that these viewers use.  This is an object that is attached to your avatar that is invisible.  It lets your viewer and the grid communicate with one another to make certain features work.  If you delete them, the next time you log on the viewers will simply recreate them.  If you don't allow them when asked if they can be created, some of the features of the viewer will not work properly.

You can read more about what a bridge is and what features it supports

Thank you Amethyst, I was just wondering as I bought a script file which says I should create a folder with a #prefix, I thought it may be an automatic 'run' folder or something.

When I first joined SL, I deleted all kinds of things. I'd see three different shirts, two or three pants, etc. for the same outfit, try them all on, see no differences, and delete the "extras."

    Been there done that :womanwink:

when i get a new outfit i don't just choose 'wear' the whole thing.  i put it on item by item so i see exactly what each item is.

Good tip, I don't wear at time of purchase but do generally take off existing outfit then wear the new one, didn't realise until this post that items are often duplicated in different layers.

  18. Thanks everyone for very helpful replies. I know now what the problem is, I may have inadvertently deleted parts of a package thinking they were duplicated, never mind, it is all a great learning curve and I'm meeting some nice people Sue
