  1. I've already cleared my cache.

I've downloaded and installed the new Firestorm viewer on a clean install.

    I've tried Imprudence.

    I've tried other computers.

Everything points to a grid or server problem but there is no information on the grid status website.  Can anyone help?

    EDITED TO ADD:

Thank you for your reponse.  I get as far as waiting for the region handshake and then the viewer closes and says that either the grid is down or there is a problem with my internet connection.  I know my internet connection is just fine.  I am having no problems anywhere else.  Except one.  When trying to download the Second Life Viewer update, I get no where.   It just sits as if it can't find the cloud server and then gives my a file that is 0kb.

I have already tried turning off my firewall.  The same errors resulted.

    EDITED TO ADD:

I appreciate your response LoveAngel, however as I mentioned earlier I have already investigated the firewall as a possibility.  I just shut the bloody thing off.  I still had the same problems.

Maybe there is some problem with connecting between New Zealand (where I live) and LL's servers.  I have problems every night.  Not always to this extent, but getting on SL and actually being able to do stuff is a real crap shoot.  The fact that I can't even download the new SL viewer update leads me to believe there is either a server down or somewhere between New Zealand and LL's servers...a connection has gotten toasted.

    FINAL EDIT:

Bingo!  You nailed it Nyll.  I power cycled the router and sure enough...I am able to log in.  SL is stil running horribly slow, but that's typical.  There is still something about this time of day.  I don't know what it is.  But the big issue tonight has been resolved.  Thank you.
