  4. Is there a way for a script to return the total number of avatars on the grid?  I know, when you first sign on to the view, that that number is present, but I wasn't sure if it was something to which you have access in an LSL script.

  5. I know that there are some http reply and http response functions in LSL but I've never used them before and don't quite understand what they do or how they do it.

    What I'd like to do is write a script that goes after one particular Google calendar and parse information it retrieves from that calendar, and I'd like to provide today's date as an argument to the http call so I could, specifically, retrieve calendar information that relates to the current day.

    Is this do-able and, if so, could you provide some pointers as to how to do this, please?

Thank you for the wonderful feedback.  I will be displaying the images in sequence, and they will be displayed for approximately 4-5 minutes at a time.  So, with what you said about pre-loading, I was wondering if, perhaps, I could preload the "next" texture on the "back" side of the same prim that is currently displaying the image I want everyone to see on the "front" side?

    I've never used the llRegionSay before but I do see that I can use a "secret" channel for communicating with the prim.  Will the llListen cause any additional lag if I code it thusly...?

I've got this really big prim... approximately 40m wide by15m tall.  On one face of this prim I want to display one of 14 textures "on demand", meaning I need the ability to pick and choose which texture displays and when.  I'm familiar with the LSL arsenal of commands and functions at my disposal so I know there are a number of ways to do this but...

    The area in which this prim resides will be occupied by 50-100 avatars so the potential for lag is huge.  What's the most efficient, most lag-free way for me to communicate with this prim, telling it which texture to set so that the 50-100 avatars in attendance can see the new texture as quickly as possible.  The two things to consider are both how quickly the prim gets the message to change textures as well as how quickly the texture rezzes for all the world to see.

    Any and all suggestions are welcome and encouraged.

  9. I have this box that my avie sits on.  I'm looking for a series of LSL script commands that will, in essence, do this...

     

    1) Turn the box, with my avie on it, which is presently  facing north, 90 degrees to the right so I'm facing east

    2) Turn the box, with my avie on it, 90 degrees to the right again, so I'm now facing south

    3) Turn the box, with my avie on it, 90 degree to the right, once more, so I'm now facing west

    4) Turn the box, with my avie on it, 90 degrees to the left, so I'm now facing south

    5) Turn the box, with my avie on it, 90 degrees to the left again, so I'm now facing east

    6) Turn the box, with my avie on it, 90 degrees to the right, so I'm facing south again

    7) Turn the box, with my avie on it, 90 degrees further to the right, so I'm facing west

    8) Turn the box, with my avie on it, 90 degrees to the right, once more, so I'm now facing north, the direction that I started

     

    I'm getting confused with global vs. local rotations, as well as the order of the operands, and also whether I need to multiply or divide.  Any help you can provide with the set of necessary rotation commands to make this happen would be greatly appreciated!

That fixed me right up!  Thank you!  There an NVidia control panel where you can specify, on a program-by-program basis, whether to use the standard Intel chipset or the NVidia chipset.  As you might have imagined, the default was for everything to use Intel.  I changed it and now, not only can I see mesh, but my video has NEVER been this smooth and had such incredible level of detail.  Thanks again!


  11. Please help!  With mesh overtaking the grid at lightning speeds, I'm eager to jump on the mesh band-wagon but something is keeping me from doing so and I desparately could use some assistance.

    I have a Dell XPS L702 laptop running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium Edition, SP1.  The laptop has 8GB of memory with Intel Core i7-2720QM CPU processor running at 2.20 GHz.  When I go into device manager and expand display adapters I see both an Intel HD Graphic Family adapter as well as an NVIdia GeForce GT M555 graphics card.  The NVidia card has drivers as recent as 12/3/2012.

    When I fire up Phoenix and go into Graphics Settings and let the viewer choose optimal settings for the hardware, the graphics slider is set to HIGH.  When I actually sign onto the grid with these settings, however, no sculpties rez and my avatar never materializes and I'm unable to move.  If I start with the slider set to LOW and then move to HIGH, I can actually see mesh clothing and such but I'm still barely able to move.  There is a "shaders" checkbox that seems to control whether or not I can do anything in SL or not.  With the check-box checked I can see mesh but things are terribly slow.  Without that checkbox checked things are wonderfully quick but mesh is invisible to me.

    Surely my system is "high-end" enough to be able to enjoy SL with mesh.  I'm thinking I just need to tweak a few settings.

    Can anyone tell me what I need to do to able to see mesh and still be able to move my avatar?

I bought a set of wedding pews from The Beach House that work really well in the SIM where I have my residence.  It's a multi-sit single-prim sculpty pew that allows up to three people to sit on it and choose one of three animations.  When I take the pew to a different SIM, where the church actually resides, the first person can sit on the pew without incident, but when a second person attempts to sit they get the message, "Nowhere to Sit".  What could be different from one SIM to the other that would be causing the difference in behavior with these two locations?  The SIMs ARE running to different versions of the "SIM software" as evidenced by the message I get when teleporting, but the church SIM is actually a new version.

    Could it be something with the SIM software?  Could it be a rights issue?  Any help would be greatly appreciated as the wedding is rapidly approaching!

I have four textures I want to alternate on side #4 of a prim... basically displaying the first texture for a second or so and moving to #2, then #3, and then #4, and then back to #1 over and over.  I basically just set up a script to do LLSetTexture using the UUID of the four textures and have them stacked one after the other in the script.  I tried to cut down "processing" resources as much as possible.  Initially, the textures take a minute or two to load, so I see a solid grey texture repeating over and over.  Eventually, all textures rez and they all display properly.  Then, after a little while, I get random gray "rezzing" textures again.

    Is there some way to pre-load the textures or is there some better way of doing what I'm trying to do, or is this just something I have to put up with in SIMs that can be somewhat laggy?

I have a friend who hears ghoulish breathing over and over again but has detached everything she can and yet the sound persists.  I found, using the Sound Explorer that there is a llLoopSound that is playing, that is owned by her that is playing the sound UUID noted in the subject line above.  If I press <STOP> in the sound explorer, the weird breathing "goes away" for me, but the breathing still persists.  This is a VERY annoying sound and she and everyone around her wants to know how to turn it off.  Any advice?  Thank you.

  15. Greetings!

    My name is Rutherford Beresford and I own a recently constructed SL recreation of the RL Louisiana plantation home called Houmas House.  The house sits in the middle of its own homestead SIM.  Construction on the house is complete.  The interior is presently in the midst of being decorated.  Every detail of this project has been in keeping with recreating as much of the RL version of the plantation as possible.  The floorplan is exact.  Furnishings in each room are similar.  What's missing, up to now, however, is the grounds and the landscaping.

    I have a budget of approximately 1,000 prims to use to complete the construction of the grounds, including the gardens, fountains, trees, walkways, sitting areas, etc... again, trying to recreate as much of the look and feel of the RL plantation as possible.

    Having said all that, what I'm looking for is an individual who is as passionate about their work as I am about this project.  I'm looking for a professional SL landscape architect who can recreate as much of the grounds and gardens of the RL house as is reasonably possible in SL.  I know this no small request and I'm prepared to compensate the right person appropriately for their time and efforts.
