When buying items in SL it say with materials or (non-materials) What does materials mean?

I am looking to purchase the MSI Computer Corp. GS70 2OD-001US 17.3-Inch Laptop with the NVIDIA GTX765M graphics card. Is this graphics card supported by SL? If not, what is a good graphics card for a laptop to get the highest possible resolution and effects?
