  1. Hello all. New to building . I want to build a curved blade like so, just for personal cosplay; https://gyazo.com/a44e8f1d2fa371ab48fa4f106afceedd So the blade part, how do I make a prim shaped like that ? Start with a cylinder, or a triangle ? Any help is greatly appreciated
  2. I have a trad. Linden Home at a 1024 sqm parcel at Bellissario. I am running out of available LIs, though the parcel size is okay. I understood that the amount of available LIs is bound to the sqm figures I own. Q: If I upgrade my land tier via Land Manager to e.g. acquire an additional 512 or 1024 sqm, without actually relocating from my current Linden Home 1024 sqm parcel, will I then be able to use these additional LIs from this upgrade land tier on my current 1024 sqm Linden Home parcel ? (Note: I do not want to buy any larger land or take part in a land auction and relocate. because any neighbor can e.g. block my view to a neat landscape nearby. I want to stay where I am, but just want more LIs available on this existing parcel. I checked the alternative to acquire 2 Linden Homes on an adjacent parcels, but the covenant, as I understood it, rules out to join the parcels and remove the hedges between them and remove one of the Linden Homes).

  4. Me and my wife are looking for some help with scripting. We are looking for a script that we can be drop inside a prim giving that prim the ability to be dealt damage once hit/touched. Example: An avatar holding a baseball bat that can give physical damage to a prim. Once prim is hit, the prim is disappears.

    Land Prims

    We are opening a mini community sim , I parceled off the homes but I hit a snag when we were testing out the sales and buying of the land. Some items got sent back because the parcel was full. How do I increase the prim allotment for each home? If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

    How do I get the prim count of furniture in my home without counting each piece singlely?
  10. Aloha all, I have a quick Prims vs Land Impact question. Researching it takes me down a rabbit hole of decade-old Forum posts. I'm considering buying a mainland parcel. Before I do so, I'd like to figure out what my costs will be. I currently rent a quarter sim for L$9728 per month. Given today's exchange rate, I'm paying $41.86 USD per month to rent. The Mainland Pricing and Fees page indicates a monthly charge of $67 USD for a 1/4 sim, which makes buying mainland look like a bad deal. Hmmm. But then I noticed that it allows 5625 Prims Per Parcel. In our mostly mesh world the line between Prims and Land Impact is super blurry, but I would love to have a parcel with 5625 LI! Heck, even a 1/8 mainland sim allows 2812 Prims, which would be much more than my current cap of 1250 LI. Buttttt... only if Prims equate to Land Impact, which they likely don't since the invention of mesh. SO: how do I know what the LI cap will be on mainland parcels? Is there some sort of equation that can be used to figure this out? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

  12. I made the following 3 stores. For each of these stores, I got a separate roof, floors and walls on each side. I first made the centre store, then made the right side and mirrored it to left. Applied the transformations, baked all textures & made all LODs. Those 2 sides have same number of materials, same number of vertices & tries (as per Blender). But somehow, I get two different Land Impacts on left & right roofs & 1st floors. Everything else matches. Below are the LI when those are set to Prim (Physics Shape Type). Both have hole for stairway. Dimensions are same (both physics & mesh) Left (LI) Right (LI) Remark Roof 3 4 Convex Hull LI (left - right): 3 - 4 Both have same physics, download & server weight. But more display weight is different (L)1826 - (R)1831 - Both side carries 3 textures. Only difference i found was 4 extra vertices on left (this side happens to give low LI than the other) All LODs have same vertices & tries (as on upload window) Both roofs have physics of 2 tries 1st Floor 3 2 Convex Hull LI (left - right): 2 - 2 Both have same download, server & display weight Somehow Mesh is high on left. Thus high physics - Both dimensions are same & I have double checked if it goes beyond boundary. all good. Only difference I found here was 1 extra vertices on right (this side happens to give low LI than the other) All LODs have same vertices & tries (as on upload window) This is after I managed to remove 2 physics tries from each. Before it gave 6 - 3 (left - right) LI (in Prim mode) Both floors have physics of 8 tries Floor Upload Window So I'm quite puzzled about this & curious to know whats the cause and how could it be fixed or at least a way to lower the LI.

Apparently there is a discrepancy with mesh objects and the like ... Firestorm group chat has confirmed that we all go by LI now because of what mesh tends to do (be off in count, either up or down, depending --which is why I assume they put LI in the build window and not prims). Now... If I sell something I make, and I advertise how many prims it is, am I going to use what shows up in my build window, or what shows up under "prims" in my area search window? (You can arguably also use Build>Pathfinding>Region Objects, but that also just gives LI, so pretend we're lazy and we'll just use area search.) If I am building something and I need to keep my limit under 50 prims, am I going to use my build window to add up and determine how many prims I have with unlinked objects, or am I going to build with the area search window open? Will I have to ask each contest I participate in how they count prims so that I play by the rules? If I am going to hold a build contest, and each entry is allowed 50 prims, how do I know that they adhered to the prim rule? --Would I individually click on their items and get the build window information + temporarily derender things I have already counted ...or am I going to use area search? And if I use area search, will I go by LI or by prims (as sometimes things do not show a LI, it simply gives "...")? ...How do I be fair? Should I tell participants that we're playing a semantics game with everything under the specific word "prim" or do I count these things the way "everyone" does via LI? ...What do you all think?   17. I'm trying to make a sphere that is opaque black on the inside. When I create one however, the inside is transparent. How would I go about making the inside a color? I feel like there is an extremely simple solution to this that I still haven't gotten to >_>

I want to make a simple six-sided prim box and use a single texture image mapped in SL so that each face appears to be different (not six identical faces) but just using one PNG "net" texture rather than six separate ones. Preamble / Conditions I don't really want to go down the Blender -> Mesh route + making a UV map because a simple prim is only 1LI and so there is no optimisation benefit of replacing it with mesh (plus I don't know how to do UV Mapping in Blender) I know how to use the Build tools in SL and the texturing panel - and I know how to apply a different texture to each face. And I can see there are mapping options (default or planar) with scaling, offsets and rotation etc, which can of course be applied globally or per-face. And I know how to make a texture in Photoshop, measure out areas accurately and so on (been using Photoshop since about 1992) Question Is there a simple or "standard" way to arrange my box texture image in Photoshop (e.g. a 512x512 square) and then map this in SL so that the different faces of my box show the correct part of the texture, each offset and rotated as required? Presumably I could get there eventually with painstaking adjusting by eye of offset and rotation for each face but I wondered if there was a tried and tested way, or a template that people often use or similar (that comes with, say, a text file of how to offset each face) Also – I don't fully understand the offset units or whether to use Planar or Default mapping p.s. If the answer is "use Blender" then yes I’ve already lost WEEKS battling against its insane learning curve, and following YouTube videos that no longer help because they keep changing it. I just want to put a texture on a prim.
  19. I bought a sky box that is 128 x 64. I might move location and I want it smaller. I have been un-linking the parts and rebuilding it to a smaller size.My issue is that there is a water prim. When I stand on it i stand on top of the water. In the original sky box I go through it. The water comes up to my chest. How do I make my version so I go through the water(prim)? This is standing on top of the water This is in the water(What i want)
  20. Hi, I'm looking to get 2048sqm of double prim mainland or 2x1024sqm parcels beside eachother. I've money sitting waiting to buy this at the right place for the right price! I'm not after anything fancy, I don't need water, I don't need 2/3/4x protected or anything like that. The only request is that it isn't (general) rated. Expect an instant sale if you make a good offer! I've been scouring the grid so I know what the prices are generally like, and that they are usually set by landbarons who sit on the parcels for months without shifting them!

  22. I build tracks and other buildings, make mesh and dabble in scripting. One of the shortcuts i wondered about was to replace the tedious task of dropping scripts individually in 100 - 200 pieces of track (easily possible via drag and drop inworld). I tried selecting multiple pieces but then they will not allow one script to go into to all the pieces. I had hoped to do it via scripts but so far I have not found a method which works. In all cases I have to have a script in the prim I'm trying to drop the script in for it to work - which kind of defeats the point. Does anyone know of a way (function) to use a script/hud etc to drop a script into an empty prim, via for example - touch, collision etc. I dont need a full script, just a pointer to how it may be done (although I think it might not be possible). Thanks

  24. Hello! I came across a vehicles in which the sound comes not from the root prim but from another, for example from a motor. but at the same time in the motor prim, I did not find the script. How to make the sound go from not root prim and from child prim in a link set without an additional script?
  25. Good evening, I became interested in the question: of how to make the HUD always dress correctly, from any point of attachment, I did it. But now I have a question. Is it possible to write a script that will dress any prim as HUD? For example, I will choose to attach to my left hand, but the prim will be dressed as a HUD anyway.
