  1. I just joined SL about 3 weeks ago. It seems like a world chock full of potential adventure, but I am having such severe issues that I may delete my account. It's a shame because I have bought Lindens and invested some in my avatar. 😔 A friend told me to use the Firestorm Viewer as it is more user friendly. I downloaded it about 3 weeks ago and other than the occasional lag, it seemed fine. I loaded in busy stores and rendered everyone almost without fail. Then, about four days ago, it began to malfunction badly. I was in a shop when it froze and I got the spinning wheel of doom. I tried again and got the same thing within a minute of logging in. Then, I started getting it right away. I would have to force close every time as it froze and said "Not responding." I tried loading in a different region. Same thing. I gave up that night and tried again in the morning. The freezing happened almost instantly. I finally uninstalled Firestorm and reviewed how to do a clean install. I followed the instructions, redownloaded Firestorm, and got the same result. I did searches, read forums, and took a day off. Today, I restarted/recycled my modem via my Internet provider. I downloaded Firestorm and it worked for a little while. I managed to buy a head at Lelutka (which was not letting me in AT ALL at one point) and was working on updating my avatar when the screen started blacking out. It would flash black - on - black - on - black - on. Like it was having a seizure. I logged out, logged back in. This time, I froze. Each log in produced the freezing issue or the black out/screen on issue again. That's a summary. Let me tell you everything else I have done to try and get SL to work and some info about my computer. I have Windows 10 and have downloaded the latest viewer for Windows. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 15 5501 Laptop purchased last year. I have 12 GB of ram. I was on IMVU before SL - and while IMVU does not require the same graphics rendering, I have always been able to use it and run multiple apps at once with little issue. I THINK my video card is dedicated. I am not a tech genius so I am not 100% sure. I just checked my download speed on my wifi and it's 381.10 mbps. Other things I have done to try and resolve: I have whitelisted Firestorm on my Avast firewall/security, done a clean install three times, cleaned my computer, checked for viruses, looked for and completed driver updates, rebooted/shutdown my laptop, loaded in quieter regions (which sometime allow me to hang on a few minutes but eventually, same result), and checked my processes to see if any unknown background application was dragging me down. I am completely lost. While I wanted to have a "Second Life," I have no desire to take days from my ACTUAL life to get the platform to work. Any suggestions aside from what I have already done would be so appreciated. If not, I will just call my small investment a loss and move on. Thank you so much in advance! -Clara 🦊
  2. Whenever I log into SL on no matter viewer (I use Firestorm the most) , I can move for like 5 seconds and then it instantly freezes and that stupid (Not Responding) always appears in the upper left corner This has been going on for a few days, I have updated Firestorm and my laptop several times, cleared all the caches, the graphics are on the lowest setting but nothing works. It's so annoying! Is there anything I can do?
  3. Hey all, I have 2 monitors, and an nVidia GTX 1080 Ti. Several days ago, any time a Second Life viewer (TPV or official) launches on the second monitor, it just shows up white, with (Not Responding) in the window title. Looking at the update history, it seems that the only Windows updates around that time were Windows Defender antivirus signature updates, and security updates. At the time this started to occur, I was running a fully updated Windows 10 1909. I tried everything I could think of to get it working, various clean installs, video driver rollback, etc. What is interesting is that I ran into a few other people who have only started having the issue around this time. I know in the past, nVidia cards had this issue for "some" people, but it seems recently it hit a whole lot of people who were never experiencing this in the past. I never had an issue with this since I've owned this computer for over a year now. Considering I couldn't seem to fix the issue, I dared to take the plunge and update to Windows 10 2004, hoping maybe this would fix it since one of the things they worked on was enhanced multi-display support. Unfortunately this did not correct the issue, and thankfully, did not cause any additional issue. Both monitors are using display ports, so I decided to try and have the secondary monitor use HDMI instead; this did not fix the issue so I reverted it back to the display port. I tried to switch from the nVidia Game Ready Driver, to the nVidia Studio Driver, but this did not fix the issue either. I am hoping anybody out here might have some insight, has run into this, and was able to find a fix. I am also wondering if there is anybody out there on a Windows 10 desktop machine (with latest updates) with more than one monitor, and an nVidia card that, that is having no trouble launching a Second Life viewer from the secondary or tertiary display? I have no problems with the viewer if I launch it from the primary display, and drag it over to the secondary display, but if I close the viewer on the secondary display, it will want to pop up there again next time, and freeze. I have made some comments on the JIRA, but not everybody looks there, so I was hoping maybe somebody had some exposure to this who is reading the forums. For anybody interested, the JIRA on this issue is here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-227725 Any insight or guidance on this issue is highly appreciated. Thank you!
  4. Hello! I have an Intel HD Graphics Card, and I know it's not the best to play SL with, but that's all I can deal with at the moment. I could really use some help if possible. I use the Firestorm Viewer ( x64 ), and my laptop is a HP Stream Notebook. ( Windows 10 ) My game constantly crashes, lags or the screen/viewer freezes up and/or the screen turns black and I end up getting disconnected. My game has severely low FPS. ( Under 10-12 ) I've tried to do research on how to fix the problem, such as installing the x32 version of the viewer, but to no avail as it doesn't work with my graphics card. I've tried to lower the sliders on the quality/performance to low, but it makes my game buggy and the viewer weird-looking, and it doesn't help. I have also tried to change my graphics card settings to Performance, and the power settings with it, but it doesn't change anything. If you know of any tips or advice, or if you also have an Intel HD graphics card, please tell me how the game works for you and how did you improve your performance? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hello! I've been having an issue that Ive been deeling with for a few weeks now, it is making SL unplayable. FS loads worlds fine, but god forbid there are avatars on it, because it seems to freeze up and start ghosting as soon as an avatar teleports by me. its a gamebreaking issue for me, my voice chat goes down, and my viewer locks up for seveal seconds and then it just pops back to normal for every avater. I know its not my computer, its a brand new computer with a 3700x, a rtx 2070 and 32 gigs of ram. And Sl was runing great for awhile. however I recently switched internet providers (from att to comcast) and as soon as I booted it up for the first time after getting the switch , it was broken. I have been messing with my bandwith settigns to no avail, cranking down the draw distance and graphics and lowering the max amount of avatars to silly amounts with no effect. I am really at a loss. What more frustrating is that it was in internet upgrade, every other game runs better but sl became broken. I was wondering if anyone has had any simmilar issues or susgestions, Id really love to get back into sl, but i cant evengo to my normal homestead hang out or realy much of anywhere other then completely dead sims.
  6. Hi! I recently just updated my computer to windows 10 from windows 8 and ever since second life hasn't been running well at all, randomly it'll just freeze completely (even on the log in screen) and now also, every time I log in or even try go to a different region my wifi knocks off, it's super frustrating and I just don't know what to do about it.
  7. So, I have been having this intermittent freezing. The program/viewer starts to not respond, and I will get a little blue wheel for about 45 secs to a min. If I am not on my viewer and am in another window, even if it is not responding, I will see a little 'blink' when it comes back so that I knew it was frozen. It is VERY frustrating. I have checked my ram for any errors (ran memtest86 for 11 passes and it all passed). I have checked for virus' and malware. I have run a clean on the computer. I have clean installed viewers. Cleared cache. Moved my logs. I have rolled back video drivers. Updated drivers. Literally cannot figure out what the issue is and cannot find anyone else with the issue. I am going to attach a copy of my specs below, as well as a log I also submitted to the peeps over at firestorm. This happens on both SL and Firestorm viewers (when they are logged in at the same time too or not). I haven't had any response from LL (I put in a ticket over a week ago) and I put in a Jira Support ticket with Firestorm, and still waiting to hear from them. So, I thought in the meantime some of you might have some suggestions as to what is going on.
