  1. Hi Everyone, I would guess I'm not the first person to ask this question, but I can't find any threads or other info about this: Is it possible for an SL photographer to sell their digital photos as NFTs? Lately, selling NFTs is a hot topic. We see digital art selling at marketplaces like Nifty Gateway for obscene amounts. Obviously, that's rare. Still a number of photographers have come to me lately asking if photos taken in Second Life are saleable as an NFT for a profit -- even a small profit -- on marketplaces like Nifty Gateway or Rarible. The TOS is so confusing. I've read bunches of opinions on the TOS and ethics etc., but does anyone have a concrete verifiable answer? Thanks!
  2. Hello! My name's Ebony and I'm looking for a job in SL. I am extremely new (a little noobish) since I've only been on SL for about a month going on to two. I'm looking for a job to where I can explore the world of SL, and gain friends and connections. What I'm good at: Digital Art: I am a self-taught artist, and I do digital artwork on the side-job / hobby. I have done things like repaints or do full blown commissions for at least...6 years now? I'm always learning how to be a better artist. Editing: Another self-taught hobby, but I don't do it often simply because it takes too long and my laptop simply cannot handle it after a while. I've been editing for at least 2 years (I use the recent version of Adobe-After Effects). I can make small one-minute AMVs. Roleplaying: I am heavily experienced in roleplaying (I notice that in SL it is called emoting). I've been roleplaying for at least 6+ years. I use emoting as a way to express myself (and my avatar). Dancer(?): I'm not really sure if I should add this here. My only experience with being a dancer is on IMVU (which I've been there for 6+ years). I'm not sure how it works on SL to be fully confident about it. Translating*: I know a few languages, and meeting people of different ethical background is really fun! So far I know: English (first language), French (currently learning), Spanish (Know enough to have a fluent conversation), and Japanese (Self-taught. Don't know all the lingo). Keep in mind that I'm currently in school so I don't know all the vocabulary. My Flaws/Setbacks: SHYNESS: God am I shy, I try to be a very open and extroverted, but I really do tend to make things awkward. SL has caused me to open up a bit though. School: Being in college has really toned me down a bit. I'm very serious about my work and I put my work first before having fun. However this might affect my activity sadly. Terrible Laptop: Okay, hear me out. My laptop is absolute dog-***** (I'm surprised it can even run SL tbh) and is most likely on the verge of exploding everytime I click on Firestorm. So, if I tend to lag out or crash multiple times...you know why. Things I wouldn't mind trying out: Hostess(?): I put a question mark here simply because I'm not really sure what a Hostess is, but I wouldn't mind trying it out. Escort*: Now I don't mind being an escort...with limitations. I know what a escort is, but I'm very confident in my roleplaying skills that I can make one satisfied with just words~ Artist: This is an area I am most knowledgeable and comfortable with. Model: I would LOVE to be a model for someone! I think It's super fun and creative to be a photographer's canvas. What I'm not comfortable with: - Using my voice for sexual intuitions: I have valid reasons for this. For one, I'm shy, and I'm not confident in my voice. And two, I don't mind using voice with people who I am comfortable with, but if you want to hear my voice for sexual reasons... I'm not comfortable to do that. - Being asked things that involves my real life: Look, SL is SL and RL is RL. I don't have any intention of combining them. Things that are part of my private life I would like it to remain private please. So...Why should you hire me? So, dispite all my flaws and obstacles, why should you even hire me? Well... - I am willing to learn and adapt to the ways of SL. I really want to learn and experience new things! - I'm open to different job opportunities. - I have multiple social medias for you to get in touch with me (Discord, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, and etc) - I'm hard working, adjustable, and reliable. I do tend to take my work seriously. - I can be pretty sociable and friendly with people that I know or give back the same energy (I live off the "respect is earned, not given" role of life) - Despite me being on SL for a month, my avatar is up to date with the latest body, style, and fashion (i.g Genus Head, Legacy Body, BOM Mesh, and etc) Things to keep in mind: - I'm a college student, so my schoolwork comes first. - I'm new to SL, there might be certain things I don't know or understand yet - If I make some bad mistakes, I'm not trying to do it on purpose. I really don't know what I'm doing lol Here's a link to my Art/Edits IG: https://www.instagram.com/star.sck/ you can even DM me to verify its me. For kicks and giggles here's my SL / VU IG. Mostly I use it for posting.https://www.instagram.com/star.slv/ same thing. You can DM me for varification. Thank you! Be sure to IM me if interested.
  3. I’m a self taught digital artist looking for work here in sl. I come from the imvu platform but I also do work outside of that. I do logos (text based & cartoon) and edits. I do morph edits, repaints, and simple fixes. https://www.instagram.com/anjlsbeauty/ (text based logo & flyers that I did for my beauty brand) https://www.instagram.com/diamondz.vu/ (cartoon logo & edits)
  4. (still from a video by Burnha Firehawk) Machinima, named for its fusion of machine and cinema, is a unique art form in which computer graphics are rendered and choreographed to create a cinematic production, like this recreation of 1920s Berlin by Pepa Cometa. It is shot in real time, differing from other forms of computer animation that are shot frame by frame. This approach to filmmaking has grown and evolved over the last few decades, growing such a large following that there are now machinima festivals, and Second Life is proud to host many Residents who create content in this medium. As some of you may recall, a recent episode of Lab Gab hosted Residents Huckleberry Hax and Caitlin Tobias for a discussion of Stomol, SL’s first feature length cyberpunk machinima. The Second Life Flickr also receives many awesome music video submissions, which are a great way to show off your favorite dance animations. Earlier this year, hit Japanese pop composer Yasushi Watanabe made a music video in SL that is bursting with sugary, summer energy. And this mysterious trailer by Burnha Firehawk has me hooked! Another notable SL machinima artist is Bryn Oh, who also does 3D exhibitions. We’re excited to report that the Supernova Digital Animation Festival in Denver has selected the works of Residents Huckleberry Hax, Tizzy Canucci, and Erik Mondrian, and we encourage you to experiment with machinima and the endless possibilities within SL. You can get more info from the SL forums and many YouTube tutorials. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
  5. This week we are featuring Etérea, a wondrous and surreal slice of paradise. Sprouted from the colorful mind of Coqueta Georgia, a Second Life photographer and blogger from Chile, this region feels like a curated selection of fairytale elements sprinkled over a grassy island. Experience behind the camera played a huge part in the design: Coqueta says that “Etérea was born with the idea to make a sim for photographers so that people could take photos and rezz their poses and objects for free.” With grassy hills, glittering trees, picnic tables and benches, there is no shortage of spots for a selfie, portrait, or landscape shot. Don’t be shy if you’re somewhat new to SL photography, tutorials abound and experience is how you learn. If you need a little extra motivation, the creator’s team holds monthly contests in the Etérea VIP group, which is a great way to get to know other Residents with an eye for digital art. And as always, please share the gorgeous moments you capture on our Flickr. Coqueta credits her friend SeKaoru with the creation of the name Eterea, which she defines as “something intangible or volatile, something that gives us the feeling of being poorly defined but sublime at the same time.” This is visible in the way the sky is filled with floating objects: static bubbles, a stack of chairs, a cloud of umbrellas. These things defy gravity and yet seem perfectly natural in this environment, so don’t forget to look up to the clouds. An incredibly unique aspect of this region is that, as Coqueta puts it, “Etérea will change with the seasons of the year and will be updated constantly, so bloggers and photographers can take pictures in different thematic seasons.” If you head there today, you’ll be met with tall grass and patches of clover and tulips. We’re very curious to see what will come next. Visit Etérea today to explore the nooks and crannies of this peaceful wonderland. Eterea Eterea is a region dedicated to photography, with surreal and fantasy settings. A little piece of art in a wonderful fantasy world called Second Life. Visit in Second Life
  6. I'm looking for great models (couples, family & friends - NO single avatars) to complete my upcoming (new) digital art portfolio on Flickr. You can win an absolutely FREE, HQ photoshoot + editing (professional hair drawing, skin retouche etc. - the total package) by simply taking a snapshot of yourself and your partner or with friends in the outfit you want to have the photoshoot done (please no editing of the picture, just a raw snapshot). REQUIREMENTS to participate in this contest: - MESH Avatars only / HQ Head + Body - NO Freebie-Clothes (your outfit can be any style you like, e.g. gothic, sexy, business ... ) - NO single avatars (I need more than 1 avatar on the picture - you can apply as a couple (lovers) OR as friends (2-3 avatars) OR as a family (max. 4 avatars) - MUST provide a RAW SNAPSHOT with all participants (unedited) with the clothes you like to use in the professional photoshoot so that I can see what you look like -> you can paste a link to your snapshot in my private box/IM etc. or send it inworld to my avatar "EclipticalMoon" - you also don't need to buy poseballs - you can just stand next to each other without posing - I just need to get an impression of your pixels 😀 IMPORTANT: I will draw TWO winners after checking the snapshots and will announce here as soon as the search is over. The winners will get their edited picture in full perm. Participating in this "contest" doesn't guarantee you to win, please keep that in mind. But it is a great opportunity to win a professional photo editing which you normally have to pay over 2k for inworld. Good luck 😉
