  1. Desperately seeking advice because I found a better repair place that guarantees their work (for a little less than a week now)... And then the insurance runs out on my computer in December... Somewhere between upgrading the cooling system from fans to liquid, the original repair place told me that the motherboard/CPU needed to be replaced. They replaced the MoBo/CPU with what was in stock. Published benchmarks say the AMD Ryzen 5 is comparable with the Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 (or even slightly better). However, I doubt those are done just for SL (which is really only what I use this for). I've tried to research... All I've found is that AMD is apparently more expensive and that there are, resultantly, more published results for Intel. The new repair place did have me reinstall the Operating System and made sure I'm now running on the correct drivers ...But I'm still not particularly happy (and all my neighbors likely know it too) because it seems there's more lag and halting than when I had Intel, overall (even outside of SL). Both drives have been checked and are not going. I'm wondering if my settings should be quite different than what I used before, to improve performance ... Or if there's anything else anybody can think of that I could ask the current repair person who guarantees their work, before time runs out... 2. Sorry but I'm curious I bought a laptop with AMD Stuff Will it work for SL? AMD Athlon II P360 - Comparable to an Intel i3 CPU, Integrated AMD Graphics GPU Was using MacBook Pro 2015 and its not working anymore on a lot of stuff
  3. My goal was to find out which CPU is better for SL (without paying a 500 bucks worthy CPU like the i9-9900k) I'm aware SL doesn't use multi-cores, but single-core: so in theory it benefits from the highest clocked frequency. I finished my CPU performance comparison FPS-wise in SL with same hardware/settings/viewpoints/avs/etc. for: Ryzen 5 3600 vs. Ryzen 7 1700x [stock + overclocked] check it out here: https://youtu.be/VDpN-w-0sts Intel i3-9350kf vs. i5-9600k [stock + overclocked] check it out here: https://youtu.be/my-J89BM6Nk Conclusion below the vids.
  4. Seems AMD finally released the performance optimizations to Open GL for their Windows driver. I updated to the 22.7.1 driver today with a Vega 56 card and the FPS seems to have increased massively. Highly recommended.
  5. Any insight appreciated. I'm on a suuuuper tight budget. Will SL run on this? 7th Generation AMD A6-9220e Processor with Radeon™ R4 Graphics Memory: 4GB, DDR4, 2400MHz Hard Drive: 32GB eMMC Video Card: Integrated graphics with AMD APU
  6. Summary: Whenever I start any Second Life viewer, my graphics driver fails to the point my computer reboots. I have recently updated my PC from an Intel/Nvidia build to an AMD one, my specs are as below: CPU AMD Ryzen 7 1800x Eight-Core RAM 64 GB of DDR4 at 2400 Mhz MOTHERBOARD PRIME x370-PRO (AM4) GRAPHICS Radeon RX 580 Series OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit I am on the latest drivers for all of the hardware items listed above, the OS is also up to date. When starting a Second Life viewer of any description, I am able to view the world after loading for about 2 seconds, then my screen goes black, followed by my computer rebooting soon after. I have stress tested the CPU for 24 hours using Prime95, and it is stable. I have also stress tested the GPU using FurMark and a number of other pieces of software, it is also stable in that regard. The Ram was tested using MemTest86+, it is running perfectly as well. So hardware is not the issue, I have attempted to roll back the drivers for the GPU, but due to the newness of the card, there are not many drivers to roll back to, besides, the issue occurs on all versions of the software. I was able to get Second Life stable using a test viewer from a thread I found, but the experience was sub-optimal due to lack of any graphics options including basic shaders. My purpose in making this thread is this: Is this an issue on my end and there is a solution I am not aware of? Or is this an issue for other people running similar hardware?
  7. Can anyone tell me if Second Life Viewer works on Laptopwith AMD A4-6100 APU ( Integrated Radeon R3 Graphics )?
  8. So I have a crummy asus desktop I'm trying to turn into something useable. It has an AMD A8 APU with a built-in Radeon 7000-something GPU. I also have an Nvidia 430/1g card. Right now I'm using the APU. I have bumped up the "uma frame buffer size" to 2G since I have extra ram. I'm not sure/can't tell if this is helping anything or not. I can wander around semi-comfortably using a Singularity alpha with ALM enabled and DOF -FPS is around 20, 21. Turning on shadows kills it, though, and drops my framerate down to the single digits. I'm suspecting this means the framebuffer increase isn't helping -but I'd like feedback and suggestions. I can get in on either card, but I have to have ALM etc turned off if I want decent framerates. [edit]Right now I'm using windows 10 creators' update, and I've downloaded and installed the radeon drivers from AMD.
