I wasn't going to post here until I had tried it with each option. If I had posted here with only the first uncommented, you (or anybody else) would be within your rights to say, "But have you tried uncommenting the next in the list, trying it, etc?" Therefore, I made sure that I had tried all options before posting.

I've found a temporary workround -- I'm using Firestorm. However, that only underlines that something is wrong with LL SL viewer.

I only uncommented one at a time.

I tried checked in Synaptic Package Manager and found that I did have the 32 bit drivers loaded. Yesterday I decided to swicht to Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon. I have had no end of problems trying to get sound whilst logged in. I have tried both: Second Life 4.0.7.318301 (Second Life Release) Release Notes CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor (4000 MHz) Memory: 15996 MB OS Version: Linux 4.4.0-21-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 18 18:33:37 UTC 2016 x86_64 Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 970/PCIe/SSE2 OpenGL Version: 4.5.0 NVIDIA 361.42 J2C Decoder Version: KDU v7.2 Audio Driver Version: (none) LLCEFLib/CEF Version: Undefined Voice Server Version: Not Connected August 29 2016 05:49:19 and Second Life Release Viewer version 4.1.1.318504 I've been through the Readme files and searched this forum. I tried an iptables fix I saw but that just made things worse (everthing rezzed slower and I lost the buttons at the bottom of the screen). I even made sure I could support mp3, mpeg1-3, aac, etc. I have tried a different set of headphones and I have tried putting it throught my monitor's speakers. In frustation I tried doin a clean install of Linux. Every time I get the same result -- sound works fine in Linux but not in SL. How can I fix this?

I've got a Second Life 4.0.6.315555 running on Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit (Build 9200) compatibility mode. real ver: 10.0 (Build 10011). How do I set it up so that I have world on one monitor and chat (and other windows) on my 2nd monitor? I have tried stretching across but that means the world is on both monitors and you still have parts of the world obscured.
