Hey just want to say thanks to everyone that replied!

I think I figured this out, finally! The object the person was using is called (no name): and then their name. I was clicking on their name and blocking that, but the "no name" part is like a separate part that when I right-clicked, was not marked blocked, so I blocked it. What major PITA! Why the hell do people do that? Really appreciate the help!

Is the junction those little red boxes? That's what I tried to click on but couldn't. They didn't otherwise seem to end at an object.

Thanks...as you correctly assumed, this isn't "using" another user's name (that I can tell at least). It's the name of the object. And if you look at chat colors, it's using the "Object IM" color, not the "Object" color. I turned on beacons and I see what look like thin tall red laser beams, but I can't click on them. Something else just happened...someone I muted, I still see their chat in local chat, but it's in the "muted" chat color (if you look at chat colors). ?? What is the point of having a color for chat of something muted, and why would it even show up? I'm hoping there's some other setting I can tweak?

For some reason in a sim I was just in, several people (I think sim owners) were objects, not people, and I couldn't block them (when I right-click their name, there's no block option). ? I looked through Preferences but didn't see any "block object" option. Anyone?

If you "have to" cough or clear your throat (PS if that's a frequent issue maybe you shouldn't be performing)............MUTE THE GD EFFING MIC. Or at LEAST make an effort to muffle it, turn your head, etc. It's amazing to me that this actually needs explained, but I'm running into it with a LOT of performers. It's insanely annoying and inconsiderate of your audience to do that, at such an amplified volume no less. So please. Get a clue. Don't be a moron about this like so many others out there are; it could put you a step ahead of the competition. TIA.

First I wish they'd stop calling it "buying land" because there's no such thing. You can only rent. OK pet peeve aside... Speaking of renting, why is information on rental fees not listed with land for sale? I went here https://land.secondlife.com/en-US/ And NONE of them list the monthly costs, or how long rental contracts (if any) are, ie is it month to month or what? You would think this info would be listed right up front, but no. And the "FAQs" answer none of these questions. Any info appreciated. PS: pls do not approach me going "I have this great land for sale contact me" - I am just browsing for now and not interested in a "sales pitch." Just general info which LL SHOULD have listed up front but don't would be appreciated.

Then for the love of God PLEASE GET OUT THERE AND PLAY THE CLUBS. I have heard numerous male singers all over SL - not one has been good. In fact most are like these lounge lizard types who can't even stay on key half the time, some so bad they're funny. So please, if you can really sing (PS "really sing" doesn't just mean you have a vibrato), SL needs you badly.
