  1. Heya! I've been running SL for about 4 years on my current PC, flawlessly, on high settings and a comfortable FPS rate despite my graphics card not being too strong. However... Lately- and by that I mean really a week or two- I've been trying to work my way around a really weird issue that never occurred to me in the past. Every 5-6 seconds textures start reloading themselves and the result is completely annoying. I suspect it could have to do with the fact I recently plugged a second monitor? Honestly that is the only thing about my hardware that's changed in the past 4+ years. What I've already tried: restoring viewer settings emptying my cache changing the size of my cache (from bigger to smaller and vice versa) detaching any (and all) heavy huds attached increasing viewer texture memory buffer- this is where I encountered a weird issue. I'm not sure what value I had it on previously, but it won't let me push it beyond 128 which is extremely low. I wonder if that could be traced back to the second monitor being plugged in? I've never ever had an issue with loading textures. Anyway thanks for reading- I really hope someone encountered a similar issue and managed to resolve it.

  3. thank you very much for your reply! i havent messed around with the upload settings at all, so im hoping i can work my way around it, haha. thank you again!
  4. hey everyone! i'm starting to mess around with the idea of making second life hair on blender, i tried two methods (tapered cylinder and plane hair) and while i enjoy working with planes better, there are two things i wanted to ask- 1. ive been duplicating the hair and flipping normals on it so its not invisible on the inside, like i would do making hair for the sims or other games. is that considered acceptable for second life hair or do people usually do different things, like not using planes in the first place and using cylinders instead? is it preferable to use the solidify modifier on the planes instead of duplicating? 2. i uploaded some of my attempts at making hair to beta grid, and it cost about 290L$ to upload the mesh. is that considered reasonable? about how much, on a rough estimation, would it cost to upload mesh hair to second life? thanks for reading and i hope my questions are overly noobish :)
  5. thanks for the cache tip! i just set it to be saving cache seperately. hope that helps. about the setting.xml files; im not sure i know how to make seperate ones (honestly im not sure i know what those files are and how to access them in settings) is there a chance you could explain a little more on that?
  6. wooo first of all thanks for the quick replies everyone. i got this fixed though- i was using the official viewer with multiple clients enabled, but the results were SO much better using two clients on RLV or firestorm. Basically, any other viewer works a lot better than the official when it comes to that, lol. thanks again everyone.
  7. hey everyone! first of all i apologize if I'm not posting in the right place, the forums are still pretty confusing to me. I recently got a new PC that runs second life wonderfully. It runs on Ultra smoothly, with a lot of things running in the background, and still not scratching 50% of the physical memory used. However, everything changes when I start another viewer. I checked the task manager and the physical memory usuage is still low (37% with two viewers and google chrome) but this awful lag kicks in, even when i lower the graphics to minimum. I can still run a lot of programs in the background and they will run flawlessly, but two second life viewers just refuse to work together. Has anyone ever experienced this issue before? What is there to do about it? :(
  8. i live in israel, and calling any of those numbers would be a very expensive option for me. is the 'long distance' number the best number to call in this case?
  9. yesterday i had a problem buying L$ and i figured it had something to do with the marketplace maintenance, so i decided to wait until i see it was solved. however, hours later i tried once again purchasing L$ with the same paypal account i always use. ive never had a problem with it before, but since yesterday, i always get the message "we were unable to make changes to the current invoice". ive tried charging it 2.5$ only, ive even tried adding the card so i wont have to use paypal- i keep getting the same error, and i have no idea why. as i said, ive never had a single issue with my paypal account- until yesterday. i also tried to purchase my L$ via the viewer, but again, nothing happened. i sent an email to the support@payments.secondlife.com, but it failed to send. i have absolutely no idea what to do anymore about this. :( has anyone else experienced this problem before? just two days ago i bought lindens with my paypal account and i had no problems.
