  1. I just googled the following search and got plenty of results: making sl clothing with gimp
  2. I'm not sure how common my position is, but after getting burned a couple of times I will no longer buy any mesh clothing for which I have not been able to try a functional demo first. There are a number of sellers who just expect buyers to lay out hundreds of lindens and hope that the items will have been made well enough to fit standard size avatars. Unfortunately, some sellers who DO provide demos have not made their clothing quite well enough - or most commonly, have made the alpha imperfectly so that it shows at the edges of the garment. But there are plenty of quality sellers these days who charge fair prices for well made clothes and are confident enough to provide a demo to prove it to prospective buyers. To those sellers, I say "Well done, you have my business!" To the rest, sorry, but you will have to rely on the trusting or the ignorant to buy your stuff - maybe it fits perfectly, but I will never know because I won't be buying it.
  3. A lot of unhelpful advice is sometimes given about camming inside your avatar to locate items which have attached in there. To locate any item you have 'Added' to your avatar but is hard to see, simply right-click > Edit it INSIDE YOUR INVENTORY and the Edit > Move arrows will immediately appear in-world. You can move the object on your avatar without needing to 'cam inside' and all those tricky things I also used to do before I knew better!
  4. I found these old threads about this subject showing up in Google but nothing current. https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Avatar/Why-do-my-nipple-piercings-show-up-above-and-to-the-side-of-my/qaq-p/2909952 https://community.secondlife.com/t5/General/Why-can-t-I-attach-nipple-rings/qaq-p/685843 The answers here are a little misleading and incomplete anyway, so I thought I would provide information based on my own experience: 1. Nipple rings or piercings do not attach to the pec attachment points - you will find they will float all around the nipple instead of being attached to it. Instead, nipple attachments must be attached to the spine. They will then appear inside the avatar and at the same point and will need to be Edit > Moved to the nipples using Move & Rotate. 2. A lot of unhelpful advice there about how to then find your nipple ring inside your avatar. To locate any prim you have 'Added' to your avatar but is hard to see, simply right-click > Edit it INSIDE YOUR INVENTORY and the Edit > Move arrows will immediately appear in-world, and you can move the object on your avatar without needing to 'cam inside' and all those tricky things I also used to do before I knew better! 3. Confirming that, as far as I know, there is no way to wear nipple piercings convincingly with breast physics that has more than the most minimal breast movement. I am sure developers will be able to fix this eventually. It's a lot like the problem of nails floating in space when a pose causes your hand to close - but for example, in some mesh avatars such as the Kemono anime avatar, there has been some progress with that issue... but I don't think yet with the nipple piercing / breast physics issue.
  5. With Rolig's help (thanks so much Rolig!!) I worked out what's happening - seems it's due to the construction of my home. The home builder tells me the following: "It's caused by using large sculpts, sl limits dont allow to rezz "inside" the virtual sculptbox, it pushes the rezzed items outside that virtual box, best it to rezz the item outside and drag it in" I then enquired about why I am able to rezz pose balls from furniture inside my home, and the reply was: "This is about the limits in sl and the viewers, i think it let you rezz on poseballs because these are small normal prims within the virtual sculpted box or because these prims contains scripts to sit on" So overall, it's nothing to do with my land permissions, but the configuration of my home. To be honest, it's not a huge problem for me as I will change the furniture rarely, and when I want to rezz clothes boxes etc to unpack them I will do so on my front deck overlooking my private beach, and with all the privacy I need from my security system and land privacy setting *giggle* But for others, if you're having trouble rezzing clothes in your bedroom, try outdoors and you might find the problem is your home and not your land permissions!
  6. Yes, it is very puzzling. There are no objects or anything there, and it's an area that is three-dimensional occupying several cubic metres... I haven't yet explored the full extent of it. Right now I can work around by rezzing elsewhere and moving stuff; but it is in my main bedroom so kind of inconvenient when rezzing new clothes for the wardrobe, hee hee. But mainly, I'm just interested to see why such a thing occurs and whether it is permanent. I saw one suggestion someplace about restarting the sim, so I might ask the landlord when that is due again. How often are residential sims usually restarted, I wonder? Thanks for helping!!
  7. Thanks for following this up, Rolig. In my case I was dragging and dropping from my inventory; tried several different items and none would rezz, moved a few metres and they would rezz fine. I wasn't near the property boundary, was about one-third across a 4096 sq m parcel. And yet, weirdly, a furniture item with poseballs which I rezzed in another spot and dragged to that very spot, and the scripted rezzer rezzed the poseballs just fine. So it's a strange one.
  8. I am experiencing a strange variation of this. There is a small area of my 4096 sq m parcel on which I cannot currently rezz. Yet a piece of furniture in that location can generate its pose balls (they are of the 'semi-ghostly' type, not sure if that makes a difference). I rezzed a home just before I noticed this issue, and there didn't seem to be any pieces which couldn't rezz in this location. But I consistently get the message like JackieEvancho got in May, "Can't rez object at { xxx.xxx, xxx.xxx, xx.xxx } because the owner of this land does not allow it. Use the land tool to see land ownership" This even applies if I have the land set to allow anyone to rezz there. But it only applies to one location of a few square metres.
