  1. WANT: TWO HOMESTEADS! Looking for two homesteads to purchase immediately. Please IM Mila Edelman with your offer. You need not have both homesteads--we will be happy to buy two separate homesteads from two separate sellers.
  2. On a strange side note, this seems to be a very unorthodox request. I've actually put out an offer to pay someone to teach me, and folks keep sending me tutorials. I specifically want to pay someone to help me.
  3. Do you know how to design clothing, objects and furniture using zBrush? Well, you might just be the person I'm looking for. It's said that, when we can admit to others, and, most importantly, ourselves, that we need help, only then can we truly improve. I may make clothing quite well, but I'm admitting to you that I am utter crap when it comes to mesh and zBrush. I'd like a teacher. I want to do some magnificent clothing, and, if possible, I'd like to learn to make building facades. But, let's start at the core of my business, and do clothing first. It's important and required that you know clothing. Furniture and buildings are nice but NOT required (I know that these are very different from doing clothing, so if you don't know them, it's absolutely unimportant). My hours are extremely flexible. My Second Life business is my actual, first-life job, so I can come on to learn, working with your schedule (there are a few days during the month that I won't be able to sit for lessons, but that's rare). Weekdays or weekends, whichever is best. I prefer to learn with Skype or Google Hangout, as it's easier to work on these sorts of things when you don't have to type every thought you have. Yes, this is a paid job. You are teaching me; you should be compensated. Either you may choose to be paid in (pick one, or ask for a combintation): Lindens. Yep, just cash! Web design and hosting. I'll put together a commercial site for your business, if you have one, and I'll host it for 2 years, free of charge. I have an extensive background in design and programming, with enormous commercial websites, with clients such as Disney, Universal and Fox, so you're getting the sum of a 16-year career. And I'll throw in the hosting for 2 years, free of charge. Free stuff from my store. Anything you'd like, from vintage skins and hair, to clothing for adults and children. It can go to you or to anyone you wish, as a gift.Contact me as Mila Edelman in-world (offline message or notecard), or e-mail me at mila.edelman@oldtimeprims.com Thank you! Edit to add: I had some people reply with recommendations for tutorials, but that is not the route I'd like to take. I have over 1000 products in my store (see http://www.oldtimeprims.com). I do know how to make clothes and textures (Photoshopping since 1996, as it's part of my work), and I'm fine searching for tutorials. However, this time, I'd like to learn to use zBrush with a teacher. I could go through the tutorials, but my reason for asking for a teacher is that I'd actually like a teacher. Best, Mila Edelman Old Time Prims/Vintage Retro/1920s Berlin
  4. Still taking offers. Please IM (offline or otherwise) or send a notecard with your offer. If you have 2 to sell, I want both. If you have 1, I want that, too.

  10. OLD TIME PRIMS is currently seeking an experienced writer for product descriptions. Why don't we do our own? The answer is simple. Since we designed and created the products, we tend to write far too technically, and include talking points that are utterly irrelevant to our customers. So, we need someone to write product descriptions that will be included on our website, on the marketplace, and in our newsletter (for each product, the same is used for all three, per product). You need not be extremely familiar with fashion history--we will provide that relevant info when we send you a request for a write-up. Background: OLD TIME PRIMS is one of the largest designers of vintage clothing in Second Life, focusing primarily on the 1920's through 1959 (though, you know the creative types--we may branch further into different areas if the mood strikes). We have been in business since the spring of 2007. Our standards for both our products and the accompanying descriptions are top-notch. To view all previous writings, visit our website at http://www.oldtimeprims.com/. Compensation: L$500 per write-up, PLUS a fatpack of any product you will be doing write-ups for. If the product is for a gender you are not, we will be happy to send the fatpack to a friend. The goal in sending you the product, though, is so that you can try it on yourself (or have someone try it on for you), so that you can see what it really looks like. Of course, afterwards, they're yours to keep! Time to completion: We work at a fast pace, when we're launching, because there's a lot to do! Write-ups need to be completed within 4 days of request. We have specific times that we like to launch, so this is critical. Frequency: We tend to launch products in bigger sets, so, we may require three or four write-ups very quickly, and then none for weeks at a time. But, when we need you, we need you! Technical Requirements: E-mail and Skype--we will need to be able to communicate via e-mail and Skype, as we will need to be able to send you the completed marketing materials. We may also need to have brief chats on Skype regarding the products. I do not mind if you use an e-mail and Skype account for SL only--I don't need to have your personal accounts. Regardless, you do need to have both, however that may be. Any personal, real-life information that becomes known to us through the course of your work will remain confidential (as must ours). We have no interest in blabbing to the world about who you really are. Interested? Send a notecard (notecards ONLY) to Mila Edelman, with at least three samples of your work (they can be mock samples). See our website for samples of how we typically accept product descriptions. English need not be your first langauge, but you do need to speak it fluently. Spelling, grammar and punctuality are extremely important! Best of luck!
  11. Mesh experience will be considered if you can meet our needs with it.
  12. Old Time Prims has a very special position open: Sculpter! See our advert for details: http://www.oldtimeprims.com/news/jobs/old-time-prims-needs-a-sculpter.php That’s right, if you can sculpt clothing and fabric, your place may just be at our shop. We’ve got a sometimes-hectic release schedule, and cannot always do sculpts ourselves. We are looking for someone to help lighten the load. Your job will be to make exclusive (for Old Time Prims) high-quality sculpts, with shade maps, full perm, based on photographs. Could be shoes, could be dress pieces, could be hats–we’ve got a big list. Our main stipulation is that you cannot sell or give these sculpts away to anyone, but us. In copyright terms, this will be a “work for hire.” We will pay you for work to be done, for us, and we will own the copyright. This does not mean that we will ever say “we made this sculpt you did.” It means that we are the owners of it, and have sole rights to use it as we see fit. In fact, we’d like to add you to our website’s staff page, so you may have credit, and point other clients to it, as credit for your work. Prior to start of work, we will need to negotiate payment. First ever project will receive pay upon completion (please understand, you are unknown to us, and we need to be sure you're not scamming to get a partial payment, only to disappear--it has happened to us before). All subsequent projects will be paid as half up-front, and half on completion. Requirements: Ability to sculptAbility to do shade mapsWillingness to correct or rework things as neededAcceptance of your works as “Work for Hire,” owned by Old Time PrimsWillingness to use e-mail. Some images we will send need to be bigger than what SL allows. You can use an SL-named e-mail. That's fine. We do, too.Willingness to not create sculpts for competing businesses, as part of your contract with us. This does not mean “all clothing businesses” (we don’t compete with, say, modern or goth clothing stores). It means “all vintage clothing businesses.” Final determination of what constitutes a competing business will be made by us. Feel free to ask! If this sounds like you, please send us (to Mila Edelman) a notecard in-world. We will require samples. To learn more about the sorts of products we sell, click here start at our homepage. You do not need to be into vintage at all to work with us (it won't count against you if you're not). You need to be a good sculpter who can take direction. PS: One past employee purchased sculpts in SL, and tried to pass them off as her own work, exclusive for OTP. It must be very clear: these sculpts must be made by you, exclusively for OTP.
  13. On a related note, every time I have hired a person to greet customers, sales went down. Customers noted being kind of creeped out by it for some reason. My greeters were never weirdos. I don't personally understand why customers were creeped out. They just were. I try it again now and then to see if the perception has changed, and a human greeter would be helpful. So far, not.
  14. Overall, my shop has done better WITH the brief greeter, than without it. We also must remember the thing they teach all programmers: most people who use our stuff are NOT tech-savvy! It's not a shame to them, really. It's not. Not everyone needs to be a programmer. There's this silly idea that's been floating around for over a decade that every man should know how to use a computer at an engineer's level. I don't know why that is. While we, as experienced users, know how to make LM's, many users don't. I've actually had customers comment later that they were glad, when they were new, that OTP gives LM's, because they didn't know how to make them at the time, and wanted to be able to find the store again. That said, I try not to be intrusive. I programmed my current greeter myself, so that I can edit it via a single text file on my http://www.oldtimeprims.com server. My main store and satellites have a slightly different greeting, and I can change all of that in one place (my web server), without having to run all over to update config files at all the satellite shops. All it does is send a private message (which appears in main chat for the specific user, since a script is messaging them, rather than an actual avatar), letting them know, in brief, of the latest stuff (right now, it's skins with vintage make-up, and realistic, classic shapes), how to contact for help (the mailbox by the door), how to sign up for the mailing list, and what the website address is. OTP's website is meant to be used, not just as a company fluff piece. It also provides style guides for all products on the individual product pages, gives more detail, options for buying, etc. Customers have made a point of thanking me for doing that. I had contemplated providing style guides inside the product boxes, however, the better option was to include that in product pages on my website (for an example, see: http://www.oldtimeprims.com/1950s/1950s-ladies/1950s-ladies-dresses/marlene.php). That way, if I change something, I can simply change the website, instead of having to update tons of boxes and sales posters all over the grid. Customers really appreciated being made aware of this upon entering the store, so that, if they were going for a specific look, it was easy to do. I can't stand greeters that feel the need to read me the equivalent of an entire novel, however, those that give information that's important to customers, I do like, and so do my customers.
  15. I used to put all prices on the adverts. It was a standard part of my template. However, after the first round of having to alter 150 product photos when I wanted to change prices, I stopped doing it. The only exception is the always-free items. I do have a special area in my product templates for marking when something is free. THAT does help it move. Sales didn't increase or decrease when I removed prices. I do know that a few of my REALLY old original products (6 or so), which haven't yet been updated, are floating around with prices on them, but everything else, no. It's too much time to spend updating and reboxing if I want to change anything. Sometimes, I like to test out different price points when I launch a new type of item. It's just easier to not include it in the photo.
