  1. Hello everyone! So I have been tinkering in-world and searching quite a bit on the internet and cannot really find answers I am looking for. I was wondering if anyone could help me with my issue. BORING BACKSTORY: I am trying to do something different after 9+ years, many of them living my life with over saturated lighting to make my avatar look good on my monitor. I want to switch my environment in my home to something with more "mood" to it, if that makes sense. I purchased red lighting for the bedroom (which are the only pure lights I have right now, anything else lit is by furnishing design like the TV screen or lights within a game) and am looking for an environment that preserves that light, within that space, but also makes other colors and edges "POP" for the naked eye, and does not make things too dull or "foggy". My ultimate goal would be for my avatar to also benefit from this environment where my clothing or accessories "shine" or catch someone's eye. There are also adult related things I would like to benefit from this environment, but I will privately test that I guess instead of publicly post here *laughs* So anything that would keep my red lights red, simulate a "black-light" effect, and preserve my avatars look would be a welcomed suggestion. Or if anyone knows of a tutorial or better way to achieve lighting effects than red light + environment, I am open to suggestions for that too. Thank you for your time, and you may contact me in world too! Tianna Burnstein
  2. Thank you for the replies. I am not worried about privacy from others more than I just wanted to create an illusion of seclusion. You never know who moves in, and you have no control over what they do, but you can limit it as best you can. The screens only block anyone on my parcel from seeing out. It is set to transparent from the other side. But I understand what you are saying. I have nice hedges and stone "fences" I could outline the parcel with, as well as the shore line. I will also try to find some nicer trees and bushes to help. I was just hoping that there were tips, tricks, tutorials, or in-world examples of workarounds or how people tackled this situation. Much appriciated though! <3 Tianna
  3. Hello everyone! So I recently aquired a 1/4 sim plot of land, that has 1 coastline. The sim is grassy, and I have rezzed high privacy screens (jungle themed) around the other 3 boarders. My question to everyone is, what is the best way to decorate the transition from the grassy land to the shore? And how do you manage the transitions where the provacy screens end, and the water begins? I would like a non-beach area. I am thinking of putting up a small concrete wall along the coast. Low enough to overlook the water and anything that gets rezzed off-sim. Second idea is to build a dock where one would look down at the water. The main thing I struggle with are the transistions from the privacy screen to the edge of the parcel. How do people do this and make it look natural and reaslistic? Or is this something where I am just suppost to accept how it works in SL? (Like walking animations clipping through mesh clothing) Any help, suggestions, or visuals are appriciated. I want to get better at building and decorating, but seem lost right now with how to handle this. <3 Tianna Burnstein
  4. THere is a good chance that it isn't a scripted item you were playing, but a "HTML on a prim" that displayed the Flash/Java applet from a website. Most classic arcade games or console games are like this. If that is the case, then it wouldn't be something that someone made to sell. And it could be something you could make with ease IM me in game if you want help inspecting the item, to see if we can figure out where to get it, or where they got it from.
  5. For those interested, there are 12 hours remaining before the tournament starts. Should have a good size crowd Hope a few of you who might have interest will see this! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Garden%20Isle/230/68/22

  9. I am going to pick one outfit that looks good on me, and wear it all the time. Or just reset to the default female avatar :( (Long winded post incoming, but hopefully it serves as a starting place for others with my issues) So once upon a time I went the route of wearing Lola Tangos and Phat Azz with SLink Hands and Feet. I looked pretty flawless on my viewer, and was very happy. After a while I got more clothing and became an "expert" at managing texture offsets to make everything look good. Then one day, I adjusted something, and I never got that flawless look back. Ruined to the point of going back to traditional SL shapes. Wasn't so bad. I went to my old shape, modified it a little, and it looked good. My breasts are size 60-72, butt 50-65, and I have a body fat of 7. Then I started to try to wear mesh clothing. Even with the alpha layers, I had to adjust my body as my curves, or body fat etc, poked though the material. Even when I got my shape to show no exposed skin, I had huge gaps between my outfits and my body, where you could see through me because of the Alpha. So now I started playing with other parts of my body. Love handles, hips, muscles. And to make this long story shorter, I just cannot get mesh clothing to fit me. Tonight I bought a mesh body by Maitreya. It looks great and works with my shape. So it is a vast improvement over the flaws I was having with SL Shape limitations. But it seems to function as just that, an SL shape. No regrets though, I knew what I was getting and wanted to dive into the mesh body world, and am willing to learn and make this work. Now I can buy clothing with Omega appliers, but I still have the same problem (because of my shape), I cannot get mesh to fit me. Maitreya has a HUD where I can hide parts of my body, but they are predefined sections, and to hide a part of my body that is exposed can lead to making part of me that should be exposed, see-through. What do I do? Where do I start? After reading a lot about mesh sizes, I am led to believe that one designer's "Large" does not equal another designer's. Do I have to constantly change my proportions to the designer's definition of what I should look like to fit in their clothes? Or are there tricks I just missed to use my shape, or modify other aspects of it, to be able to wear mesh clothing? I just feel like I have tried so much, and may just be on the wrong track, or doing the wrong things! I want to get away from the "painted on" clothing look, and skirts that never fit me in 6 years, and start wearing some nice mesh outfits Again, sorry for the long post. Hopefully the insightful answers here will help others in the future. Thank you for your time, looking forward to your answers! <3 Tianna ~
  10. I posted before, but I cannot seem to reply to that topic. Whenever I stop, my avi gets bumped/nudged sideways or launched into the air into a falling animation. This is so annoying and makes SL unplayable. Information and things I tried: I use Firestorm 4.6.1.40478.Reduced max bandwidth to 1500Tried max bandwidth at 3000Reduced draw distance to 64mClean install of FirestormProblem existed on Singularity viewer as wellHappens in empty simsI set my avi to default, with no AO or attachmentsRebooted my router and modemMy computer is not wirelessPing and speed test times to San Francisco are 80ms Ping 51621/5153 mbpsComputer was scanned with Malbytes Anti-Malware on full scan, no threats I am now at a loss what to do :( I use to think the bumping started when I played for a long time and built for a while. Now it is happening more often than it use to 2 months ago, and back then I use to remain logged in for days! I still think it is a connection issue, but what do I do next? :( Firestorm 4.6.1 (40478) Mar 10 2014 05:38:17 (Firestorm-Releasex64) with OpenSimulator support Release Notes You are at 226.0, 211.0, 2,001.3 in Village of Mist located at sim10390.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.51.40:13022) SLURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Village%20of%20Mist/226/211/2001 (global coordinates 266,210.0, 343,251.0, 2,001.3) Second Life Server 14.03.12.288004 Release Notes CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (2660.04 MHz) Memory: 12279 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 260/PCIe/SSE2 Windows Graphics Driver Version: 9.18.0013.2078 OpenGL Version: 3.3.0 RestrainedLove API: RLV v2.8.0 / RLVa v1.4.10a libcurl Version: libcurl/7.24.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1e zlib/1.2.6 c-ares/1.10.0 J2C Decoder Version: KDU v7.3.2 Audio Driver Version: FMOD Ex 4.44.26 Qt Webkit Version: 4.7.1 (version number hard-coded) Voice Server Version: Not Connected Settings mode: Firestorm Viewer Skin: Firestorm (Grey) Font Used: Deja Vu (96) Draw distance: 64 Bandwidth: 1500 LOD factor: 4 Render quality: Ultra (7/7) Texture memory: 512 MB (1) Built with MSVC version 1600 Packets Lost: 0/140,418 (0.0%) == Thank you KarenMichelle. I had NO IDEA how to repond to the other thread. It does happen on another account as well. Most of the time I am logged on both at the same time when I am building or need to test permissions. Sometimes I am fine, but last night into this morning was horrible! As for the official SL viewer...I was pushed to the side in the first 10 minutes I have been playing on it. I am certainly not being thrown around like I was an hour ago though. BUT, I had my good days and moments on Firestorm and Singularity too, so I am not convinced the viewer change helped. If I remember right, Singularity worked well for up to a day too before I went bouncing around again. I will continue to use SL Viewer, but what would your next set or questions or troubleshooting steps be if I continue to have an issue? Thanks again for the help! == Thank you too Lindal! I did disable RLV, no loss fo me, I don't use it. The one thing I forgot to do was go back into Firestorm after I signed off. I went right to the SL viewer. And I don't wanna debate this, as I will lose, but I don't understand how my graphics card is on the low end. It has 1.8GB of memory and (laugh if you want) was the best option on the "gaming" PC I had ordered/build for me by Dell. On all 8 computers I have played SL on, graphics have never looks as amazing as they do with this computer and graphics card. Now with that said, did we steer the troubleshooting into the right direction accidently? Could I have a bad driver? Graphic settings too high? Thanks to you both, as long as I am trying something I won't get aggrivated with SL :) == 3RD EDIT Forgot to mention...friends can see this happening to me. They cannot see the small nudges, but they can see it when my avi gets launched in the air and acts like she is getting shoved around. Does this mean we have to look back into connection issues and not graphics, even though it is a low end card? Right now I am getting pushed arouns almost every time I stop. I play a lot of games. I raise breedables. I own a cat and dog. I am back to my theory that something is building up and at some point that build up causes the random movements. ANd over more time they get worse. Ugh I hate it! === EDIT May 29, 2014 So after trying almost everything...I am right back where I started. Things I tried: New Hard Drive, Clean install of windows, no antivirus, tried on both SL and Firestorm viewers.Bypassed my router.Increased my CacheLowered my graphic settings all the wayNew Video Card (GTX 770)New cables to and from modem and router.New Modem and routerISP assures me it isn't a line issueLL assures me it isn't a settings or server issueSL Support logged in as me and couldn't reporduce the issuesSL Support saw me having the issues when connected in world with themHappens on any computer on my network (all wired)Happens on any avatarHappens on any simSpeed tests show way better than average speeds and normal ping timesNo packets lost reported anywhereIf anyone can see this...now what? I cannot play games because I get phantom mouse clicks. I cannot build because I bounce all over the place. The only thing I can do in SL right now, without getting annoyed or upset, is sit in one place and chat. Certainly not how I want to live my SL :(
  11. Sorry if this has been answered before. I tried to search and all the keywords are too common to find anything specific to my issues. Lately when I stop walking, my avatar will look like she is being bumped about 1-3 seconds after stopping. Sometimes it looks like I get bumped several times before finally still. Also, when starting to walk, my avatar will get launched in the air like she hit a ramp, then fall back down to the ground (height is less than a jump). Some technical info: I am using Firestorm 1.1.2.34167It happens when the AO is on or offI rebooted my computer, router, and cable modemCleared cache and did the above (Did not uninstall/reinstall however)I am not wearing anything that would otherwise animate meI have also deruthed and used an old school "Stop all animations" thingy (these probably aren't needed anymore)ISP ping times are goodSL Ping is 110-120, Packet Loss 0%SIM FPS 45, Physics FPS 44.9Max Bandwidth is 1500kbpsCache size 2048Happens on my sim, or elsewhere...even in empty regions Hope this covers everything that would be needed to know. 12. Hello everyone, hope this problem/question is in the right place! I am trying to make a small jungle on my parcel. The size of it is roughly 50x64m...not too big. The jungle is to include a windy path, a "hidden" En Garde piste, and is to be covered by trees and other jungle type greenery, so you cannot see anything inside the jungle from the outside. I have 2 issues. 1, the jungle pack I bought from Crazy Gardens had an awesome backdrop for the jungle that I could place on the corner of my parcel. It gave the jungle a perception of depth. But of course that backdrop creates a ton of issues with the alpha textures in the trees. 2, I arrange my jungle like a supermarket. Each tree/bush has its own section >.< I cannot seem to alternate between the plants and trees to make it look realistic. Would anyone be able to offer up some suggestions, take on the task of helping me, or even offer me their services (paid of course)?
  13. The only issue with those sizes are: 1) To wear Phat Azz your belly neds to be 15 and body fat 0, no exceptions or else it wont connect them to your waist. So that means you have to stray from the traditional settings for the hands and play with the torso muscles until it looks good. 2) On the feet side... You aren't lining them up with your traditonal legs. That is hidden and you are now lining the feet up to the Phat Azz mesh legs. Therefore the shape controls you would normally set for the perfect match do nothing. They can be 0 or 100, your legs don't budge. So the result are SLink feet that are a little bigger than the bottom part of the Phat Azz mesh legs. And no way to resize either of them
  14. Thank you. I figured the answer would be that I am out of luck with the size mismatch. Was hoping someone found a way they could work together though. I contacted all the designers involved, including my skin maker. Hopefully one, if not all of them will take a minute to chat with me. Each of them might claim the other one is at fault though, and I get no where. I am hoping one of them would be willing to try something, or to redesign their product to fit the other's parts. Wishful thinking, but I cannot imagine I am the only one who would want to wear both. Are skin appliers are generic? Or if I have a ROCKBERRY skin, I need a ROCKBERRY applier for the hands, feet, and legs? I don't want to change my skin, but I do understand that might be the only way to get them all to match. Thanks again!
  15. Hello everyone! Hope I am in the right area. I have created a monster and need a little guidance perfecting her. So umm, I have this friend who thought it would be awesome to compliment her Lolas with SLink hands and Phat Azz. It took a bit of tinkering but everything matched pretty well. A little separation between at the waist, but I think that is a normal thing with Phat Azz if you zoom in. So I... She needs shoes and decided to get SLink feet as well. Certainly the SL equivalent to Courtney Stoddard or any celebrity addicted to plastic surgery! Her issue is, she cannot find a good shade, or a good size combo to make the SLink feet work with the Phat Azz shapes. There is separation at the ankle, and the attachments are either too big, or too small when using them together. With the shades, none of the SLink Feet HUD options seem to match the Phat Azz color (Skin Blend Layer Light). And I assume that since her legs are no longer a part of her basic body, the SLink ankle blender layer is worthless? No matter which one is worn, the foot doesn't change color. I think the best option is to play with the shading, but I am terrible at that. (EDIT: Since the Phat Azz is an attachment, and so is the SLink Feet, I will try to match RGB values and see what happens) For the size, again the legs are no longer a part of her physical body. So any alterations I make to the shape does not appear to resize her legs to fit the SLink feet attachments. Not sure what else to do other than try all combinations of Phat Azz sizes and SLink sizes. Has anyone successfully worn both Phat Azz and SLink feet (Medium)? Or is anyone willing to help me brainstorm and think of additional things I can try? Thanks in advance! =) Tianna Burnstein
