1. Firstly, uninstall all viewers. 2. Go into C:\Users\\AppData\Local - Delete anything there relating to any viewers you installed 3. Go into C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming - Delete anything THERE relating to any viewers you installed (back up Chat/IM logs if desired) 4. Reinstall your desired viewer. 5. ??? 6. Profit.

That should do just fine. Sounds like a very decent system (except the Gateway part. I used to work for them. I hope you never need warranty service). You can expect 20ish FPS at least, even in severely laggy areas.

Neglecting to uncheck the "Show script errors in chat" box in your preferences is not a bug that needs to be fixed. Well, maybe it is for you...

New ATI Models and drivers have done away with most if not all of the previous "BAW THEY HATE OPENGL" issues. So really go with whichever. I'm running a laptop with a Mobility Radeon HD4650 and things seem fine here. However! There are benefits outside of SL that may persuade you to go NVidia, depending on if you play other games. PhysX for one, CUDA (although I'd assume OpenCL will eventually catch on for being more widely supported), and 3D Vision (although you'd need an external monitor for that) are all good reasons to go NVidia. If price is a big factor, go ATI for sure. -Asami Edit: Windows 7 is fine also. 64bit here.
